ghost Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Just wondering, I thought they came out right around now Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 11, 2010 Super User Posted December 11, 2010 No, not yet. Probably the same as the current ones but with higher prices. ;D ;D ;D Quote
Jason Penn Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Normally they're blowing out their house brand rods & reels during this time but they don't seem to be doing that this year. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted December 11, 2010 Super User Posted December 11, 2010 BPS has discounted the Johnny Morris Gold BC reel again - it's down to $129 (originally was $269 two years ago, then reduced to $169 for most of 2010). The other Johnny Morris models have also been heavily reduced. So, I have a feeling that BPS might be replacing that line for 2011. They had PQ BC reels down to $69, and Extreme rods at $59 in one Christmas catalog. Other than that, I haven't noticed any blow-out pricing (yet). Quote
MarkM Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 I got an Offshore Angler Catalog from BPS, but haven't received their regular catalog yet. Quote
aceman387 Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 I was just in the store a couple nights ago and looked for it but all saw was the Christmas gift catalog. Quote
Vinny Chase Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Normally they're blowing out their house brand rods & reels during this time but they don't seem to be doing that this year. Hopefully that changes soon!I want a new magtouch I have noticed that as well, I did however get a fish eagle 2 (best rod around $90) for $30 Quote
B-Dozer Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 I went to the Hartford Ct. store recently and noticed their fishing dept. was pretty thin. Don't think they are stocking the store as much as they have in the past. I think the store brand rods and reels are pretty good. The discontinued Prodigy Round BC is one of the best I have used. Maybe they are cutting back too much. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted December 11, 2010 Super User Posted December 11, 2010 I ordered the new master catalogs for fresh and saltwater about a week ago. I should have them about New Year said BPS Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I haven't got any of the new catalogs. I did go into the Hammond Cabelas and they had the XML and XMLTi rods on clearance for $40 normally $139 and $89 normally $189. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted December 12, 2010 Super User Posted December 12, 2010 Not yet, but I have gotten what? 5000? duplicates of EVERY catalog they make so far. That number seems to be down from 2009. Hold on................. it's getting cold in here.............. time to toss another handfull of BPS catalogs on the fire. Quote
The Rooster Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Yeah, what's up with that?? They send me several of each catalog each year. I don't mind so much the master catalog cause by time the next one shows up my first one is pretty shop worn from looking at it so much. But all the others, I just toss them while still at the post office. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted December 12, 2010 Super User Posted December 12, 2010 I've received three Christmas catalogs from BPS (so far). The first and third where the same (at cursury glance), the middle one was different, with different pricing. If you're shopping, you really need to study the catalogs a bit before tossing them as the deals do change - like the PQ BC reel at $69.xx in the 1st Christmas catalog - but not the second. Then, a later catalog might have better prices than the earlier one so it pays to do a bit of homework before tossing in the trash or burning in the fireplace... : Quote

But as for which one has the BPS Pro Qualifier on sale the cheapest, or what specific BPS rods are on sale this time, they're not even the slightest bit of interest to me. Quote
northern basser Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I haven't got any of the new catalogs. I did go into the Hammond Cabelas and they had the XML and XMLTi rods on clearance for $40 normally $139 and $89 normally $189. I'm about 2 miles away from a Cabelas and heard that they are coming out with a new XML or one with a different name. I have 2 XML spinning rods and 2 casting( not the titanium w/ recoil guides) that normally retail for $139. I picked all of them up when they've been on sale. IMHO, even at $139 these are great rods! They will hold their own w/ rods that cost up to $100 more. It will be interesting to see what the new rod will be like. Quote

With both rods being on clearance it will be interesting to what the new rod or rods will be like. Quote
northern basser Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 The only complaint I have w/ the cabelas XML rods is the lack of selection. The XMLti's weren't quite as bad. The reg. ones didn't have much of a 7' 1pc. selections. Without having a BPS near me, what is their top rod and has anyone used both (XML and BPS's top rod)? Quote
Primus Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 You guys are right about duplicate catologs that they send too many, when you no longer need them please recycle. I find myself buying less each year from the 2 big names as most of business goes to places like BassTackle Depot & Tackle Warehouse for things that my local tackle shops don't carry. I do use BPS for a few house brand items like the XPS Florocarbon & RC cranks. Quote
HomersTomaco Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Why don't you just take 2 minutes and call them and tell them they are sending you multiple Catalogs and to only send one. Now that would be the right thing to do if you care about the environment.... Which you should if you are a fisherman. Quote
Primus Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I have especially with regards to their hunting catalogs because I don't hunt. It doesn't matter it seems if you buy from them on occasion they will send you everything. Quote
