spinnerbaitalways Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 My question is i have only used power pro braid and i want your opinion is there any better brand and why? Power pro is ok but I have noticed it is gets easy to fray after lil while and new line bleeds bad! and flatens out and digs in deep on hook set. Quote
SeanW Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Personally I switched to Spider Wire. I had some break off issues with 65lb Power Pro. Also, beyond popular belief braid is not indestructible and it does need to be changed. It is also a terrible choice in rocks, as the rock tear up the line. The main reason I switched is Spider Wire is smoother and doesnt tear up my fingers like the coarse Power Pro. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted December 5, 2010 Super User Posted December 5, 2010 I like PP, use for fresh10# and salt 15 &20# has served me well on spinning gear. Recently spooled up with Fins braid 20#, so far I like it but it's been less than a week. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted December 5, 2010 Super User Posted December 5, 2010 a picture is worth 1000 words. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted December 5, 2010 Super User Posted December 5, 2010 I'm still using Daiwa Samurai braid, 55lb test, which has about the same diameter as 12 mono. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted December 5, 2010 Super User Posted December 5, 2010 I went with Sufix Performance a few years ago when I decided to try braid. It's still my braid today. Quote
Lcomfort Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 If you want the best braid out there you have to get Daiwa braid my #2 choice is Toray Bawo Finesse Braid. Cortland Masterbraid is a fine product as well. the new Sufix 832 is awesome as well. Other then these listed I wouldnt have it on my reels. What I just listed are IMHO the best braids on the market, sure they arent cheap but they fish better then the rest with ease. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted December 6, 2010 Super User Posted December 6, 2010 There are no "bad" braids some are better than others. My #1 choice is Daiwa Samurai or Daiwa Saltiga-same make-up, different colors. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted December 6, 2010 Super User Posted December 6, 2010 Sufix Performance is my go-to now for braid, but i'd really like to try the new 832 braid. Quote
Primus Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I've done well with Spiderwire Stealth, also has a decent price. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted December 7, 2010 Super User Posted December 7, 2010 I talked to several Elite Series pros at a seminar I attended last January in Dallas. All three of them said that they prefer Samurai. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 8, 2010 Super User Posted December 8, 2010 I talked to several Elite Series pros at the Bass University seminar I attended last January in Dallas. All three of them said that they prefer Samurai. I HATE braided line... I'm going to buy some Samurai for my jig rig. Quote
GrizzerGreen Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I used Power Pro and it was an absolute nightmare. It tangled and got loops left and right. But Spiderwire Stealth on the other hand....best braid out there IMO. But I ony use braid for flippin and pitchin. Spiderwire Fluro is the way to go for anything else!! Quote
Super User Micro Posted December 8, 2010 Super User Posted December 8, 2010 I HATE braided line... Me, too. But I do use it on some rods. I don't like Power Pro, mainly because it bleeds colors. When I first tried it, it actually bled color all over the reel. Of the braids I've tried, I like Stren and Suffix braids the best. Haven't tried Samurai. Quote
trevor Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Power Pro works fine for me. Yep and I picked up some spiderwire in a pinch and seems fine. This is probably close to a Daiwa/Shimano/Revo debate. Probably all good. Except Tuf-line is like REALLY rough feeling. I felt it in a Bass Pro. Quote
Jaheff Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I bought Power pro and Tuf line (80 for Salt) in the same weekend. I started to read the boxes, they are both made in the same town, like two blocks away from eachother in Col. Makes me wonder who broke off from who, or it's a city that produces alot of textiles? alienfishermen Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I guess we all see thing diffidently PP works for me so-fore, it bleeds thou I tryed Spiderwire Stealth, and after a few days I take it off Not as smooth to me and I had breakage's All 20 lb test But I might look into that Samurai stuff 8-) Quote
