Has anyone used these yet? It says the head acts as a counter balance so the hook sits up and they claim it helps hook more fish. I just bought some to use this weekend, I also bought some YUM chunks to put on them. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I've been fishing them for over a year and FORGET THE HEAVY COVER PART! ;) The weed gaurd is very weak don't attempt heavy cover at all. The finish is not very durable either. On the other hand a decent open water jig for shaky head or dead sticking. My 2 cents.

I started to pick up a couple at a show in Baltimore.  One booth had a 2 for 1 deal going.  Another guy stopped me and said that he didn't think I'd be happy.  A lot of purchases when they first came out.  Not a lot after that.  Guys just didn't seem to like them.  I guess you have given some reasons.

If your talking about http://tackle.redshad.com/prodimages/EvolutionJig.jpg

Then no, I don't like them. The one I bought the skirt was not even on all sides, one side had more strands than the other etc. And one of them in the package did not sit perfectly straight, it was kind of lopsided. For the money they costed me, this is just unbelievable. I will not be buying another one. This is just my honest opinion, im not going to sit here and tell you there great when I did not experience that.

As for their megastrike scent... now thats some good stuff ;).

Wow I am glad this is not a baseball forum, three strikes, I would be out.  I hope I have some decent luck with them, they look nice to me.  I guess I have to wait and see how they work.

x2, and the head design, well look at the shape. It obviously doesnt come through "heavy cover" at all.

This jig has its time and place though, as do most lures.Open water, flat or sandy banks and rocky conditions its great. The same places you might fish a skakey head.It stands up fine.

I bought some over the winter and noticed the same thing with the skirts.  They look like there are a bunch of missing strands and I had to seperate them to make them even throughout.  I haven't fished them yet so I'm not gonna say too much yet.

I bought several 2-packs when BPS put them on sale for nearly half price.  I wasn't impressed.  They do stand up nicely as advertised, but get hung up significantly more than usual.    For open water, i.e. rocky points...I think they work great.  It just isn't as weedless as a normal jig.  You can spend less on a Tungsten jig that won't hang up as much.  Bobby is a good guy, but I have to keep it real.

Heya Rondef, I purchased them too when they were on sale at bps for about half price....I never really liked them either, I bought 2 packs (4 jigs)...I tied on a Booyah jig and tossed it into moderately heavy cover a few times to get the feel (pulled one out actually  ;) )...I then tied on the Evo jig...First cast, hang up...tied another one on, second cast hang up...

I stopped using them after that =/

All of the new jigs that came out is what convinced me to pour my own. I don't like any of them. I had issues with JigX, Evolution, and a few others that aren't coming to me at 5am this morning. I started pouring a 30*bullet head with skirts that I had faith in. Not only do I have something that works great for me, but it feels great to catch something on my own product. Very cool

Just picked up a few verticle myself what wher the issues you had w/them? Haven't had a chance to use-em yet. Other then the pain in the a_ _ it is trying to tie to the eye w/o the skirt in the way >;)

Agreed. Not happy with the skirts at all. Very uneven. Time will tell come spring if these babies produce. But for the price.....I dunno.

I bought the 2 pack of these at my local shop about 2 weeks ago. I bought a color that I really did not want, but bought it anyways figuring this jig would be awesome. Still have not used it yet, but I will get back with any info after I use it.

I too have had issues with these jigs.  They looked impressive at first but I bought four and have lost two.  The worst thing though, I have caught ZERO fish with them.  I don't get it.  I have used other jigs without any issues and have caught several fish.

I have only had the opportunity to fish these for a very short time on a very cold day before the ponds started freezing over so I can't say much about the fish catching ability of this jig.

In regard to the skirt however, when they come out of the package the skirt needs to be rotated about 180 degrees because of the forward design of the skirt. It is basically a half skirt because if it were full it would constantly be up under the the fulcrum or flat part of the weight. Think of it as rotating the skirt so that it covers the hook and weedguard (on top of the jig) versus covering the underside of the fulcrum which will not be visible to the fish anyway and would make it difficult for the jig to rest flat on the bottom. I am not saying this is good or bad but I am reading a lot of questions about the skirt issue so thought I would offer my two cents. I hope this makes some sense as it is a little difficult to explain without a demonstration.

I agree. That's why I have issues with it. You would think that they would come ready to go. Well that's one of the issues anyway. Maybe my tune will change come spring but compared to my other jigs in my arsenal this one doesn't look as well made.

The weedguard feels the same as my cheap jigs (boo jig and strikeking) so it's not too bad.

I think mine looks good. The skirt is pretty good. I don't know how well it will work in heavy cover. I don't like is that it does not have a rattle, which I think is important for fishing heavy cover. The other thing I don't like is that I can definately see this jig picking up alot of hydrilla, which sucks because this jig is supposed to be for heavy cover. Now all I need to do is fish it and see how well it catches fish.

I didn't like the brush guard on the evo. Yeah, it's clear, but I like really stiff weedguards. The one I picked up was kinda weak. I also just was not comfortable with the overall design of the jig itself. With the jig X, I am just too lazy to want to tie a different type of knot.

Yeah..... I gave up on thier knot after 4 or 5 tries and figured out how to tie the polymer to it instead. :)

The only thing I can say is that they just catch  fish.... I trim all my skirts anyway so I don't see what all the fuss is about.

It's the heavy cover claim for me.

If you're looking to buy a car and the sticker states that it gets 40 miles per gallon, you purchase it, drive it and find out it only gets 15 MPG  ;) is that not misrepresentation? Would you not be disappointed  it wasn't as advertised?

I'm not going to lie, I love the evolution jigs. Maybe I am not fishing the thickest cover but I rarely get hung up. It also catches fish just like Matt said
