I was at the local fishing store last week, and I mentioned how much I love my little G Loomis SR720's. I own two of them. Would like to have another.

They are 6ft, 1 piece, rated for 1-4 lb line. I use a 1000 series spinning reel, loaded with about 250 yards of 2/10 TUF Line Plus braid on them.

Great for anything from Bluegills, to 100+ lb Sturgies :)

I went on to tell the guy at the tackle store, "So far as I know, G Loomis is the only company to make such a rod". So then he asks me, "Have you ever looked into Phenix rods" ?

Actually. no. I hadn't. So he shows me this one >

{3rd one down on the list} and it felt freaking awesome !

But later when I went to this website, I couldn't believe they make a 6 1/2 ft, and even a 7ft, 1 piece, 1-5lb !

Put a little Shimano Stradic 1000 on any one of these and whooo hooo ! :)

These are some very interesting little rods. I'd love to buy 1.....

Peace,

I haven't handled a finished rod, but they make some nice blanks. Alps guides are quality components as well. This is an ultra-light with a a lure rating of 1/32 - 1/8 oz. The 6'1" blank retails for $79. Add the burl seat and trim components to the Alps guides and it looks like decent value.

I got 3 phenix Ultra MBX a 6'6" ML and two 6'6" H. It is well balance and very light weight 3.6oz. It has better balance than my Cumara Reaction rod 6'3" H.
