Super User J Francho Posted November 30, 2010 Super User Posted November 30, 2010 I know some.....they're afraid to post. ;D And Quantum's service has been A+ for all my dealings with them, which is probably a lot more than one weird scheme to turn in a $24 combo for repair. Quote
SDoolittle Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Wow... Does anyone here actually like Quantum? I have no problem with Quantum. I don't currently own any, but I had a couple of Accurists that served me well for several years. Quote
NateFollmer Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Good, at least I'm not alone here then I currently have 2 Quantum reels and 1 rod - all of which are working fine and 1 of those reels I have had for probably 10 years. Quote
piscicidal Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 It seems a bit silly to based all future purchases on a $24 rod/reel combo. I bought a $9 shimano spinning reel in the BPS clearance rack for my seven year old. It's crap. When it breaks I'll throw it in the garbage. This should not reflect on Shimanos entire product line and certainly won't affect my future purchasing decisions... Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I have 4 Quantum spinning reels:Catalyst A&B,Kinetic B and a older Incyte and I also have a couple of baitcasters, a Energy and a Accurist. I purchased the Catalyst A ,Incyte and Energy off ebay and all were damaged. I took them to a local repair shop that sent them in to Quantum. They replaced the the incyte with a brand new one at the time. They repaired the other 2 reels good as new at very minimal cost. The customer service was great from each of my experiences. I own other reels as well including Daiwas and a Shimano and of all the reels I own My Shimano is the only one to give me problems. The one Quantum I did have a problem with was a KVD model sold by BPS. I didn't like the way it felt after a couple outings and took it back to BPS to exchange for another quantum. I like my quantum reels and my time on the water with them has been good and the customer service has been great. My Daiwa experience has been great as well as there customer service. On any given day anyone can have a bad experience and be soured toward a particular product but I still use my Shimano despite my mistake experience with the reel and would purchase another. Quote
tholmes Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Wow... Does anyone here actually like Quantum? I have yet to have an issue with their customer service. I emailed them when I couldn't find a schematic for my reel and had it fairly quickly. I also had a reel completely lock up, sent it into them, repaired no questions - this was still under warranty though. To be fair, I own a couple of Quantum spinning reels that have been OK. Just had a bad experience with one of their baitcasters. Tom Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted November 30, 2010 Super User Posted November 30, 2010 Ern is off base on this one. A 24.00 combo and he's whining , give me a break. Quote
Ern Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 Ern is off base on this one. A 24.00 combo and he's whining , give me a break. : No, not really. Go back to my orginal post. What I was Bitchin about was that they want $37 to fix a reel from a $24 combo. Or $7 to return it. That I thought was dumb. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted November 30, 2010 Super User Posted November 30, 2010 So what makes you think their customer service is low life , you are over reacting. Quote

Precisely why I don't drive a Dodge, and I don't fish with Quantum. I won't get burned again with either of these products. Quote
