JayDub Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 What do y'all wear when fishing in the rain? I know temperature may also be a factor of what kind of footwear, so lets say low of 40 and high of 65 throughout the day. Do y'all wear waterproof boots, or cover your shoes somehow? (Maybe with plastic shoe covers?) Quote
Pond Hopper Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Waterproof Rocky's or my waders if shore fishing. One of my most productive days was wading in a nice rain shower, catching fish dang near every cast. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 14, 2008 Super User Posted February 14, 2008 Boots when it cold, Sperry Top-Siders when it's warm. If I'm wearing pants, it's boots; shoes with shorts. In your scenario, 40-65, that means boots for me. 8-) Quote
Super User Tin Posted February 14, 2008 Super User Posted February 14, 2008 Work boots, when it is warmer sandals. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 14, 2008 Super User Posted February 14, 2008 The same thing I wear when hunting in the rain. Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Well I fish from the shore mainly, so in the rain I wear hipboots (Which I pretty much wear all the time), and a poncho. Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 14, 2008 Super User Posted February 14, 2008 Low of 40 with a high of 65; sandals or bare foot Quote
moby bass Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Minimum ankle high waterproof boots, at all times, when shore fishing. Sturdy, no slippage on rocks, protects the ankles from a multitude of injuries, keeps the feet dry. Quote
cootertom Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I save my Academy bags and when it rains put them on my feet and then the rain suit on. Rain gear is pass the lures, reels and rods and the bait monkey never lets me make it that far. ;D Quote
Super User FishTank Posted February 15, 2008 Super User Posted February 15, 2008 This is my shoe of choice for the wet stuff and everyday fishing. http://www.merrell.com/Product/NZGP/Mens-Active-Footwear/Hiking/Mens/Chameleon-Wrap-Gore-Tex-XCR.aspx Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 North Face Ultra XCR Gore-Tex sneakers or North Face flip flops (all North Face soles are "non-marking" for you saltwater folks) Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 15, 2008 Super User Posted February 15, 2008 Low of 40 with a high of 65; sandals or bare foot Cajuns are tough! 8-) Quote
JKay Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Hip waders when I'm shore fishing in the rain and it's cold. Old pair of sneakers during the summer months. I'll wet wade in sneakers also. I save my wading boots for fly fishing. Quote
