I do not want a telescopic rod, and I want it to be 7'6'' or longer.  Ive been looking at the Dobyn Champion Flipping Series.

Any Suggestions.

Right now I have a GL2 loomis.

Dobyns 765, if really heavy stuff, Dobyns 766!

I have the 805 that I have been using for all of my flipping / punching duties. I also have a 735 that I suppose I could use if I felt the 805 was too much rod. I may be doing it wrong, but I figured it was better to have more rod than needed versus not having enough rod when needed.

Ohh, and I'll be flipping 1-1 1/2 oz weights with sweet beavers.

Sounds like you'll be punching heavy cover, not just flipping lighter baits. Definately go 805. It's the punch rod, specifically for heavy weights and getting down into the nastiest stuff. Although more expensive, the 795DX is an amazing heavy flipping rod and is extremely sensitive.

i got this rod for that purpose. its a workhorse and i can flip and pitch all day and not get worn out. very light rod and extremely sensitive to be so rigid. i chose this one over the 805, which i'm sure is also a beautiful rod. http://www.kistlerrods.com/p/KR/c-helium-lta-fishing-rods/He76HC.html

david, isn't that DX795 a MH?

It's rated a MH, but certainly can do the job. It's definitely a step up from the 765 and close to the 766 and 805. It's not quite as stiff a tip as the 805, which I like in many situations.

Okay right now I'm leaning towards the 805, but what would you use the 766 for?  Punching or just like pitching jigs to wood cover ?

Also I think the extra 6'' would not hurt anything....

Definitely go with the 805 from the sounds of things. The 805 is my absolute favorite for heavy cover, aside from the 795DX. It's definitely no light rod, it could easily be called a 806  ;)

Okay, well I think I should be happy with it!  I haven't heard one bad thing about Dobyns.

But, what do you use the 766 for, or what kind of cover do you use it in ?

I have used the 766 for frogs mostly, some swimbaits, and occasionally jigs. I know some guys use it specifically for flipping, and it's really not a half bad rod, but I really like the extra 6" and the action of the 805.
