Izorline Platinum

Tried a search but cannot find many reviews.I ordered 300 yds of the green to spool on all my moving bait rods. I have been using big game and while it is very strong and manageable when you first spool it up I find it develops memory after a short while. Anyone using izorline platinum?

I'm waiting to see if anyone replies. I bought a 300 yd spool of 15 lb. on sale for less than $5.00. Most likely it won't be going on a reel until next spring. I recently received a reel with 10 lb. Yozuri already spooled. Suppose to have been used once. No idea how long it was on the reel, but memory was a bugger when I used the reel yessterday. I've got 2-3 different brands on reels. Kind of wondering how much memory they will have next year after sitting thru the winter months.

I've been using Izor for about 5 yrs and it has become my "standard" copolymer line.  It comes in 2 formulations - Premium which is like Trilene XT (hard surface, slick, tough) and XXX, which is like Trilene XL (softer, less memory, maybe not quite as tough).  I prefer the Premium most of the year on a baitcaster but like all copolymer lines, it does develop some memory eventually.  The XXX handles a little better in cold weather or on spinning reels.  Izor has less stretch than most copolymers, uniform diameter (unlike Big Game), makes strong knots, and casts very well.  It's a class act, especially considering the price for a 1/4lb spool.  Will it have memory next spring?  Yeah, just like all other copolymer lines will.  Life is too short and line is cheap!  Re-spool it next spring!  If you want something with very low memory, you might try McCoy's Mean Green line.  It is infused with Penesil, which reduces memory development quite a bit.

I use the 15lbs platinum on my curado 301 for the salt and I like it. I would choose izor over p line any day because its relatively cheap and has little memory. You will like it.

I'm still using the last of my Izorline.  I have both Platinum and the co-polymer.  The line is exceptionally strong, has good knot strength and is as abrasion resistant as any line I have ever fished with.  It is not supple and will get some memory.  The co-polymer is much softer and controllable. I got 800 yrd spools on ebay via a buddy for cheap and I mean real cheap.  You might really like it.  It handles like Maxima if that helps.

This is a practice I steer clear of with all lines except superlines. Regardless of what the companies say, line has an expiration date IMHO. I never buy line with dust on the top of it or from a place that doesn't sell high volume. In my experience older line holds more memory and gets brittle faster.

As far as Izorline goes....back when I didn't use braid or fluorocarbon I used Izorline. Good stuff if you ask me.

So if I put the line on now it will be in better shape come spring than if I don't? I think not. Or are you suggesting I throw this line away, and buy new in the spring? Line purchased online so I have no idea how old it is. I will say this tho, the biggest fish I ever caught weighed almost 4.5 times the line's rating. It had been on (and fished) for several years before catching this fish. Now I know using line that old is not really a good idea. However I think people have the wrong idea about how fast a line deteriorates.

If you are fishing for money, then change it at whatever intervals you are comfortable with. The miser in me won't let me throw away perfectly good line just because it was fished over one summer. (My wife also appreciates the savings! ;D)

Actually the smaller the spool the more memory or tighter coils the line will develop. Its better off on the larger spool until your ready to use it.

I'm just saying that I try to avoid buying older line. I don't buy line until I'm ready to use it. When line I'm using starts to get alot of memory, that line conditioner won't get out, and gets brittle and milky looking I take it off. An older spool of line will get this way faster than newer line.

Ah..I thought you were saying the memory would be worse if left on the original spool. Sorry..

Just pretreat your filler spools with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner, and you'll be good for a good long while.  I buy big spools, some are over two years old.  No difference between those and new.
