Mrs. Matstone Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I am so excited, I got some new toys! This weekend I was in Va. at the sportsman show and I picked up some new toys while I was there. I was hoping that when I returned home I could use some of my new toys but I returned home to ice and snow. > First thing I picked up was a few of my favorite things: Then I got me some new toys to try: Last but not least I got 2 new custom rods that I cannot wait to try. First one I got was a 7 foot rod for Carolina riggin. I have not tried this yet but plan to this summer. The second one that I got was a 6'9" Finesse Rod. My new rods: This is the guy that I got my new rods from and made me such a happy girl. It was an awesome weekend and I cannot wait until the next show. Then when I got home there was a little something in my mailbox too. It is a cradle weight made just for swimbaits. I don't really fish swimbaits alot but I will have to plan on using them a little more this summer. New cradle weight Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 13, 2008 Super User Posted February 13, 2008 Looks like you had a good time and picked up some good stuff. Did you ever have a chance to wet a line in the area? Quote
Popeye Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Congratulations! Nice rods! I gotta get me some 6" Senkos for this weekend's fishing excursion to Lower Otay Lake (taking a tip from RW). With all the sun and 70 degree temperatures we've been having the last two weeks, the water temps gotta be in the low 60's! Last time out it was 56-57 degrees in most parts of the lake. Hope you get to use all that fantastic gear SOON!!! I doth thinketh it'll be an early Spring for some reason. Quote
Mrs. Matstone Posted February 13, 2008 Author Posted February 13, 2008 Looks like you had a good time and picked up some good stuff.Did you ever have a chance to wet a line in the area? I wanted to but had no time. Worked the show all weekend and then ended up having to beat an ice storm on the way home which left me leaving much earlier than I expected. I was so jealous, you guys have all that open water down there. Everything is frozen up here. > I want to try to go down there again maybe this summer, just to fish this time though. Popeye- I am thinking the same thing about spring too. :'( Quote

Super User Munkin Posted February 13, 2008 Super User Posted February 13, 2008 Where can I get some of those perch colored minnow baits? Allen Quote
Mrs. Matstone Posted February 14, 2008 Author Posted February 14, 2008 Avid - No power plant lakes around me. There is one power plant next to the river and it is fenced in and posted. HOwever you can park up the road a LONG WAYS and hike down along the river bank. (Do not ask me know this) Bassectomy - I have heard awesome things about those sinking shads. I have not tried them yet but I will let you know how I do. I can tell you I told ALOT of them at the show so they must work pretty well. As for Cb's sauce I use it all the time. I have used it since I started fishing and it works great. He just came out with a new scent too. It is a shad scent I got a few bottles of it at the show too. Munkin - All of the minnows shown were Basstrix. I am not sure where you can get them. I got them at the show and I have some others that a guy in California sent for me to try a few months ago. cootertom Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Check out what the pro's catch on it. Min. bass length is 15 inches there. Average bass caught is 3 pounds. Its big with lots of milfoil, stumps and laydown. Just watch out for barges and when the winds get up white caps. live about 50 minutes from it but fish closer waters. Quote
