BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 30, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 30, 2010 Well, y'all can debate all you want. But when all is said and done, it all boils down to personal preference. It's fishing folks. Fishing is supposed to be fun. Let's keep it that way. 8-) Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted October 31, 2010 Super User Posted October 31, 2010 I dont think any braking system is faulty or better than the other. Each system works at different times in the cast. I personally prefer Shimano's centrifugal brakes to mag brakes. I find Daiwa's mag brakes to be absolutely useless. I dont see anything wrong with the Revo's brakes old or new. I think we are lucky to have alot of choice so you can find the system that works with your style of casting. What works for me might not work for you and vise versa. I'm glad you added the last sentence cause I can't agree with this one. And I dare say a lot of Daiwa users would also disagree. As luck would have it, all my reels but one are Daiwas. The one being an 09 STX. I didn't plan it that way, it just worked out that way. I bought what I felt was a good product (based on research) at a good price. Example: 2 Fuegos on closeout at TW. I wanted a Shimano or two and still do. I got into baitcasters this year. Haven't been able to fish nearly as much as I would have like, but this I can guarantee. My thumb is not educated. Today was windy. Granted I wasn't throwing into the wind. (Would have had to aim for the parking lot. ) Most casts were across the wind. Didn't backlash once, and almost all my casts were 2-handed for maximum distance. Only used Daiwa reels today. I think if the Daiwa system was worthless, I'd have been spending most of the day picking out bird nests. Quote
RussBert Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 U say Dual Brks are a marketing tool that you don't need both, and stick with Shimano or Daiwa I think that is so funny because both Shimano and Daiwa spend MILLIONS on marketing, HEG, SUPER FREE, MAGFORCE V, ITO, that is Y a Steez reel costs $479.99 a Zillion $399.99, you are paying for the MILLIONS they spend on marketing. I just sold 2 Steez reels and 1 ConQuest DC reel for the Dual Brking PARTRIARCH reels !!!!!!! Retail for $199.00 and they don't backlash and they will out cast any Steez, the DC will outcast the Patriarch maybe 10ft ?? but you have to spend $300.00 more for 10ft !!!!!! Whoa! There you have it. Dual brakes ROOLZ Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted October 31, 2010 Super User Posted October 31, 2010 As has been said many times before, opinions are like buttholes; everyone has one. I have found a reel the really suits me and my style of fishing. I'm not going to mention the name of the reel. There are already enough opinions, and they are all the correct ones for the individual users. Quote
