Ima Bass Ninja Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 After seeing another thread i got to wondering who here uses different reels and who uses the same reels. Me personally i have different ones, i have a pfleuger trion, daiwa procaster, 2 BPs pro qualifiers (1 ltd), and a BPS rick clunn. My reason for having different reels is mostly deals i've gotten and really i just didn't know what i liked. Quote
TBendBassin Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 i like to use mostly all the same (shimano) but i also have a few revos Quote
bwell Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I like to use different also, I like a little variety I guess... I have a Revo silvermax, Revo STX, Citica D, Citica E, and a PQ. I think the next purchase will be a Diawa if I cant find another STX for a good price around Christmas time. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted October 20, 2010 Super User Posted October 20, 2010 Right now I have a mix of Abu and Shimano reels. If I ever get around to replacing them I will probably buy Revos or Curados. Quote
Dr. Watson Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 My collection isn't big enough to have so many, but what I do have is all different. An Okuma Cayenne, a Daiwa samurai spinning reel, a Daiwa PMA 1500R (yard sale), and an old Zebco 33 Rhino tough. However I should be getting a shimano soon. The way I see it is get what feels good, what looks to be durable and has quality components; the name on the side of it plays a little part in it, but overall its what goes into the reel. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted October 20, 2010 Super User Posted October 20, 2010 The reels I have that get the most use are my PQ's. I've got a Citica and a Curado sitting in the garage as well. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted October 20, 2010 Super User Posted October 20, 2010 Different reels . Quote
DaveT63 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 All baitcasters are different, mainly due to getting them for good deals; Curado 201E7, Curado 201B5, PQ, and Revo STX. I have several of the same model Shimano spinning reels, but also have several other model spinning reels. I don't mind diversifying, as long as they are quality reels. Quote
hitchhiker Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Use to have pretty much the same. 6 Fuegos, 2 Sols, 1 Alphas. Now 2 Fuegos, 2 Sols, 2 Curado 50's, 1 Core 50, 2 '10 Premiers and a Winch. My spinning reels are Daiwas and Sorons. Unused reels right now are 2 Fuegos, Alphas, Revo SX, 2 PQ's, and a BPS Pro Finesse. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted October 20, 2010 Super User Posted October 20, 2010 Different models from the same mfg and several mfg. Quote
TourPT Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Nothing but Tours and Energy's here and I could not be happier. Might add a Smoke or two next season also. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 20, 2010 Super User Posted October 20, 2010 Mostly Daiwa... gaggle of Sols/Itos/Alphas. Pair of Zills, trio of TD-X, three capricorn spinners, Calcutta, Stradic, a CI4. Quote
mk49 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 My current lineup is 3 x Steez, 2 x Fuego, 1 x Zillion, 1 x Zillion 50th Anniv., 1 x PX68. I like using the same reels, but the problem, when used with the similar looking rods, is hard to see which rod is which on the boat. I have 5 x Dobyns + 2 other rods on the boat last week. All my Steez were on the Dobyns 6'8" rods, but different powers. It gets confusing, sometimes. Quote
Stasher1 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I use different models from the same manufacturer, but they all use the same knobs. That way I can have application-specific rigs, but they all feel pretty much the same in the hand. Quote
21farms Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 i think variety is the spice of life. over the past four years, i must have bought over 40 new reels representing every all the major reel manufacturers and found things to like/dislike about all of them. i've sold many of them off but among my keepers are a bunch of different reels (curados, zillions, revos, etc.)...it's fun for me to see and experience different approaches, philosophies, and implementations. Ima Bass Ninja Posted October 20, 2010 Author Posted October 20, 2010 Awesome stuff guys!...To those that use the same reel(regardless of model)...was the brand you are fixed on your first one or did you use different ones and decide those were the one's you liked best and why do you like that particular brand...is it feel, confidence or something other? I'm thinking of maybe just going to one brand so it doesn't so feel different...i can tell a big difference when I'm holding a trion and then switch to the PQ, i think my hands go into a mini shock ;D........ Boogey Man Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 1 Fuego, 2 Citica 200E's, 1 Citica 100D, 1 Quantum Catalyst, and just added an Okuma Serrano. Too many out there to stick with just one Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I pretty much have a variety but my main setups are Quantum reels. My Spinning setups I have a Quantum Catalyst PTI A&B, Quantum Kinetic, Rainbow BM 1500 and a Shimano Sahara. My Baitcast setups I have a Quantum Energy, Quantum Accurist, Cabelas Prodigy and a Daiwa Exceler. Quantum was the reel choice I made after several cheap reels and plan on adding a couple more to the arsenal. Quote
I.rar Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 right now i have 2 citica 201d's (one has upgraded bearings and drag) ,one abu garcia 801 and one abu 602. i want to fish one of those citica e reels or just anything with a smaller frame than the 201d. Quote
Red Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I am kinda anal about this. I like all my stuff to be the same, I don't know why. I guess I find something I like and stick to it. I have four combos, all are Revo S-L's mounted on Lamiglas Excel's. I have worked for about three years to get everything the same, now I am happy! ;D Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 21, 2010 Super User Posted October 21, 2010 I have as variety, but they are all Shimano. : Quote
SDoolittle Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I used to have a variety of Shimanos, Diawas, and Quantums, but over the past few years, I've replaced most of them with Revos. I currently have several Revos plus two Chronarchs and a Curado. My spinning reels are all Shimanos. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted October 21, 2010 Super User Posted October 21, 2010 I have a variety of different reels, both models and manufacturers. Most were obtained through deep discounts and great deals. I have 3 Shimano Curado e7s, an e5, a Stradic Ci4, Citica, and Cardiff; 2 Daiwa Sols, a Fuego, Zillion, Pixy, and an Alpha; 2 Pfleuger Patriarchs and a Supreme; 2 Quantum Energies (one casting, one spinning) and a Code; a Revo SX and a Toro; a Mitchel Avocet, BPS Pro Qualifier round reel, and Okuma Trio. I think that's it. Quote
scrutch Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I have a variety as well. And as others, putting it together was mainly by getting a good deal on a particular reel. It includes STX's, and 50mg's. Spinning gear is all over the map. I have a buddy that's a guide and he has all calcuttas. I really like the idea of having all the same and I might very well end up that way. Who knows. Quote
zerofivenismo Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 My small stable is a mix of JDM & USDM Shimanos and Daiwas BC's and Shimano spinning reels. Quote
