philsoreel Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 Yeah, I was just checking that out. I will still try it but why can't any other brand get the strength to diameter ratio that powerpro can? Quote
Dr. Watson Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Yeah, I was just checking that out. I will still try it but why can't any other brand get the strength to diameter ratio that powerpro can? If I remember correctly, Shimano has a patent on PP lines so that others can't copy their line size, components or manufacturing process. Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted October 5, 2010 Super User Posted October 5, 2010 Dr. Watson, I think you have the patent information incorrect. Refer to this article: http://blog...com/blog/bid/42262/Pure-Fishing-Sues-Shimano-over-Patent-Infringement Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted October 7, 2010 Super User Posted October 7, 2010 It probably comes down to the fact that Pure Fishing now owns Spiderwire which was the first small diameter superline after their now owned Stren brand that was the first superline with the Kevlar fishing line. The use of the superfibers for fishing line in the braided form may be the suit subject. All of those fibers were developed for the bullet proof clothing industry. Kelvar, Spectra, and Dyneema Firelne is the Dyneema fiber and Pure Fishing owns that too. Quote

I just don't see it. Yeah, Samurai and Toray Bawo are better but they are also extremely expensive and in a different class. That's like comparing Vicious Fluorocarbon to Shooter or Tatsu....there is no comparison. I'm very hard to please when it comes to line but PP has never given me any problems. Not going to get into a my brand is better than your's debate with anyone so no need to rebuke. I've tried several others and didn't like them. Quote

Dr. Watson Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 just got my computer back so I can reply now, lol, anyway, I haven't used anything but mono line so far, but I'm interested in using the new 832 or sufix stretch braid on my next reel. Quote

IMO, unless you just feel like being different, it's tough to beat Sufix Performance braid. the only thing is, I want a little bit of stretch to compensate for some of my aggressive casts, I have heard that due to the no stretch of most braids violent casts can make the line snap, because they have no shock absorption. Super User dodgeguy Posted October 13, 2010 Super User Posted October 13, 2010 fireline braid does not break on casts only cheap braid or braid that is worn will snap on a cast. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted October 13, 2010 Super User Posted October 13, 2010 haha I would love to see a youtube vid of your casting if its snapping braid ;D Quote
