I have two Patriarchs and a President. I love them. I also have two BPS Extremes and love them almost as much. The one thing they all have in common is the dual breaking system. When doing an annual break-down and lube of each of the reels I found that the Pfluegers and the Extremes were almost identical in internal layout. Mayhaps the Extremes are made by Pflueger?

If you also had a Revo you'd open that up and say WOW, this Revo looks just like my Pflueger and Extreme.

Pure fishing products.

BPS, Abu, Pflueger, are all in the Pure Fishing sector of the fishing world, so i can see the similarities.

Pantera, for what it's worth as of next week I will have four Patriarchs on my rods, none of which are XTs.  I like them that much.

Their is a weight difference, carbon fiber handle, foam knobs.

Not sure of what else.

another difference not mentioned.  Since they've gone with the handle nut attachment method, they're using a different drag system than a standard Patriarch which was using the older Pflueger style Spin on handle drag system.

Sorry, I had to ressurect this thread.

Back when I started it I was new to Pflueger and was (still am) very impressed w/ the patriarch xt. I have another on the way and I'm ready to pull the trigger on the regular patriarch that is on sale at TW. I have one Lew's TP and the rest of my reels this year are going to be patriarchs and pat. xt's. No Shimanos, which will be a first.

Not so much on this site, but another popular site is full of threads about patriarch and patriarch xt's and how impressed everyone is with them. I'm glad to see some others that share the same thoughts.

Dodgeguy, I have to admit that I used to think there was something wrong with you. All kidding aside, you stuck with thoughts that the patriarch was the best baitcaster in its price range. Apparently your not the only one.
