Which hand is your dominant? Which reel retrieve do you prefer and why?

I'm a righty, but a switch-hitter depending on technique:

Crankin/Finese/Some Topwaters - LH (better wrist action with righty)

Spinnerbaits/Plastics/Some Topwaters - RH (more power when retrieving)

i cast with my right arm. i used a righty reel for about 15yrs.

a couple yrs ago i borrowed a lefty reel and fished the whole day with it. havent used a righty since.

I am just as comfortable with both. I have leftys and rightys...makes no difference to me.

lol , this topic does come up alot.

im right handed. cast right , reel left. ive only held RH reels and i couldnt imagine fishing with one. having to switch hands after each cast kinda turns me off. i would like to be able to use both...maybe one of those nifty procasters will fit the bill...

Right handed, cast right handed & reel left handed.

Only time I would use a reel with the crank on the right is off-shore fishing where casting is not involved.

And yes I have caught the 350# Blue Marlin and the 85# Cobia, 22# Pensacola red snapper, 185# Warsaw Grouper etc etc. Ran Charter boats & Private yachts for 21 yrs from Boston to Argentina, Gulf of Mexico, Bahamas, VI, Puerto Rico, Venezuela Ad nauseam.

Personally ya gotta do what is right for you.

Right-handed, cast right-handed, use right-handed casting reels and left-handed spinning reels.   Fished with a left hand reel a few weeks ago, it feels awkward but could really see the benifit for me, I have a very weak hookset.  I'm not gonna switch all 18 of my reels for lefties but I see the advantage for some.

RH, use LH spinning and RH for BC's. However, I just picked up my first LH baitcaster and get to give it the trial run tmw. Hopefully I didn't make a mistake with the new LH reel.

Cast with right hand, But i've mastered the art of switching hands during the cast. Then I reel with my right hand, left hand palming the reel. I store fished lefties but it just felt awkward.

I cast with my right hand and retrieve with my right hand with both spinning and casting reels.

Switching hands after casting doesn't really bother me much.

Yep, that

Is it a comfort, power, control or some other reason as to why you fish the way you do?

Mine is power/control. Certain techniques I want more power in my hookset, other techniques I want more control in my presentation.

casting: righty

spinning: lefty

I never cast with one hand unless i'm pitching either. i swing like i'm swinging a baseball bat. or an ax if it's an overhead cast

I cast with my right, and all my reels (baitcast, spinning, fly cast) have right hand retrieve. Just my preference.

Took out my new LH Curado today for the first time and I have to say that it felt a bit awkward compared to using RH BC's. I assume that it will start to feel more "normal" after a couple more trips, otherwise that puppy may end up in the flea market.
