Cajun1977 Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 are you fishing jordanelle? Go with the 100 Quote
utahbasser Posted February 10, 2008 Author Posted February 10, 2008 yeah i'll use it there a lot. i'm gonna get a 100 and 115 probably because i'm gonna use the 115 for the big dogs. fun fishing Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted February 10, 2008 Super User Posted February 10, 2008 I use the 100 size. Falcon Quote
Super User Alpster Posted February 10, 2008 Super User Posted February 10, 2008 All are 100s. Ronnie Quote
Super User T-rig Posted February 10, 2008 Super User Posted February 10, 2008 I use the 65 up to the 128. It all depends where and when I'm fishing. Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 10, 2008 Super User Posted February 10, 2008 100's. Seem to be a very good size for this area. Quote
HesterIsGod Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 I use the 65 up to the 128. It all depends where and when I'm fishing. exactly, its all situational for me. Quote
CJ Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 I use the 100 and the 115.Both catch big fish. Quote
armesjr Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 I bought my first 100 today, and also picked up a Flat MINIMr for 10. Quote
utahbasser Posted February 10, 2008 Author Posted February 10, 2008 i think i have it all figured out! finally. i'm going to keep the 115 and use it for fun fishing for the giants. then i'm getting a 100 for tournaments and when the situations ask for it. and i'm getting another "SAMMY" type lure that is better in chop conditions that is the same size as the 100. thanks for the help everyone Quote
Super User FishTank Posted February 10, 2008 Super User Posted February 10, 2008 The 100s are all I use. Sammy has to be my favorite topwater bait. Quote
Infidel. Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 The 100 is the only one I like. In fact I love that bait, but I have a 65 and a 128 and I don't care for them at all. Quote
SteveF Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I seem to do the best with the Sammy 100 as well. Quote
utahbasser Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 i made my order today and now i have a 85, 100, and 115. i also got another bait like the sammy that works better in windy conditions. its the same size as the 100. i plan to fish the 85 and 100 the most, but when i want to catch a HOG i'm gonna fish the 115. thanks again for all the input. so whats the biggest fish you've ever caught on a sammy? Quote
Super User T-rig Posted February 12, 2008 Super User Posted February 12, 2008 You will catch fish with the 115 but not allways hogs. I catch alot of 2-4lbrs. Quote
Shadcranker Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 100 exclusively. If I want a smaller bait, I throw the Excalibur Spittin Image. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 12, 2008 Super User Posted February 12, 2008 128. +1 8-) Quote
Super User Munkin Posted February 13, 2008 Super User Posted February 13, 2008 100 size or the Gunnish 95 is all I use anymore. Allen Quote
utahbasser Posted February 13, 2008 Author Posted February 13, 2008 i was going to get a gunfish, but i already have a lot of pop-r's and things like that. maybe in the future though. it looks like a good bait. even though this guy is a friend, my goal is to beat this fish. Quote
Super User Alpster Posted February 13, 2008 Super User Posted February 13, 2008 Man, that is one nice SM. Ronnie Quote
MaxDal Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Wow Now we're talking ! Definitely one of the nicest smallmouth I have ever seen. And nice color too ! How big was that trophy ? As for the sammy I'm using... It all depends on the situation as it has been mentioned. But I tend to favor a sammy 100 most of the time. I like the 115 & 128 when I want to achieve slower slides and a slower Walking-the-dog. On the contrary I'll go to a 85, if I want faster action. Here we also use the 65 a lot for big yellow perch. And I remember having a lot of fun with the 65 on the Mississippi River in the St Cloud area (MN) .... even caught a good share of crappies on it, as well as a big largemouth buffalo (Yeah I thought I had the smallie of a lifetime :'( ). But yeah ! If I should keep only one... that would be the 100 Quote
utahbasser Posted February 14, 2008 Author Posted February 14, 2008 it was 22 1/4" and 8 lbs. he caught it on a swimbait he makes. check out lakextackle.net to see what he's got. its always catching some big fish. i plan to do the exact same. fish the 85 fast and the 115 pretty slow. i can't wait until the spawn here with the big fish up shallow.
