Spinning or casting ? If spinning, it's an awesome reel. Don't know anything about the casting model.

casting is the one im trying to find out about. But thanks about the spinning cause i was looking for a new spinning reel as well.

I have one.  They have a long history of being a solid performer, hold up well and cast well.  They are a little big in relation to many of the new low profile reels.  I use mine for steelhead fishing know it it still works great after years of use.

I have two of the cheaper pfluegers I am not very happy with right now, and I was just at Cabela's last week and saw four trions in the bargin cave.  I have to wonder, why were they returned?

My wife has one, as it was one of the only LH reels Gander had when I bought it for her. I would have gone a different route, but the options were limited. Its a good reel. I just spooled it up last night with some line and was casting it this morning, and was surprised on how well it casted.

If the price is right, go for it.

Do you mean the brand new Trion? I'd love to hear some feedback on one as well. Looks an awful lot like the Summit.

As far as the previous version, Trion was NOT one of the "cheap" Pfluegers. It is a solid, dependable workhorse of a reel. It casts and pitches more smoothly than you'd ever suspect. If you look closely at many of the Pflueger Pros, you'll notice a lot of Trions on their decks.

TW has them for $88 now too. Might be worth checking the tried & true Trion  :)

I'm waiting for the next type of reel. It'll be the day, when baitcasting becomes obsolete

Nice reel,I just couldn't get used to it for some reason. It just felt too big and bulky to me.

The new trion posted above has my attention though.

I have the cranking gear version-good reel, especially for the $50 Cabelas is selling them for.

if you are a cabela's VISA club member, they're even cheaper...only $39.99 for either the standard or wide spool version.

I have both the spinning and baitcast reel. Both have been very solid reels .The baitcaster (bought for $50.00) is used for cranking mostly and has worked very well. I will have to agree that compared to my other reels(mostly pro-qualifiers) it feels a little bigger. The spinning was my first rod and reel besides an ultralight(which is also a pflueger trion that is excellent) and has been extremly dependable it is matched with a 6'6" mh trion rod. Bought both for $35.00. Great reels for the money.

Can't comment on baitcasters, but I love the trion spinning real. For the price you can't beat the quality. It is one of my go to all purpose reels and have been using it for years. I fish off a Kayak and have dunked on numerous occasions and it is still smooth as ever.

I ordered a couple of the narrow spool versions from Cabelas today. Too good of a deal to pass on. Wish I had the $$ for a couple more.
