Just bought a Pflueger Patriarch 71wlp.  This is the best reel i have ever used.  Its the smoothest, Farthest casting, reel i have ever seen and its only 8.4 ounches. Check it out!

I also prefer the narrow spool versions of the Patriarch.  Excellent reel.

yep, I've got 2 narrow spool reels, had 3 wide spools but sold them, two to a buddy, one to a member here.  Great reels, I won't buy anymore at retail ppricing but I'm not selling the ones I have.

for me it's just easier to use, I have small hands so it's easier to palm.  The buddy I sold the 2 WLP reels to has big hands and prefers the WLP over the LP.  It's all just what's comfortable.

Whats the advantage or why do you prefer the narrow spool?

Size and weight.  I had no need to carry around that much line on a spool.  I originally purchased a Wide spool Patriarch when they first came out along with a narrow spool.  I quickly sold the wlp.

They are nice for sure. I dont know if they are that much better than my curados but they are nice reels for sure. I got some on sale and they are the only reels I will buy other than curados. (I dont want to spend more than $200)
