SKTprodigy Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Just bought a Pflueger Patriarch 71wlp. This is the best reel i have ever used. Its the smoothest, Farthest casting, reel i have ever seen and its only 8.4 ounches. Check it out! Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted September 29, 2010 Super User Posted September 29, 2010 i have the narrow spool and i have to agree. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted September 29, 2010 Super User Posted September 29, 2010 I also prefer the narrow spool versions of the Patriarch. Excellent reel. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted September 29, 2010 Super User Posted September 29, 2010 yep, I've got 2 narrow spool reels, had 3 wide spools but sold them, two to a buddy, one to a member here. Great reels, I won't buy anymore at retail ppricing but I'm not selling the ones I have. Quote
SKTprodigy Posted September 29, 2010 Author Posted September 29, 2010 Whats the advantage or why do you prefer the narrow spool? Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted September 29, 2010 Super User Posted September 29, 2010 for me it's just easier to use, I have small hands so it's easier to palm. The buddy I sold the 2 WLP reels to has big hands and prefers the WLP over the LP. It's all just what's comfortable. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted September 30, 2010 Super User Posted September 30, 2010 Whats the advantage or why do you prefer the narrow spool? Size and weight. I had no need to carry around that much line on a spool. I originally purchased a Wide spool Patriarch when they first came out along with a narrow spool. I quickly sold the wlp. Quote
mrbassky Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 They are nice for sure. I dont know if they are that much better than my curados but they are nice reels for sure. I got some on sale and they are the only reels I will buy other than curados. (I dont want to spend more than $200) Quote
