Lard_Bass Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Yes, another thread about the carrot stix but this time about a specific one. I am eyeing up the 7'9" Fast-XHeavy (CLTX791XH-C) version. I need a good flippin stick to punch through heavy slop. I also see that I can use this as a swimbait rod because it can handle up to 3.5 oz lures. The boys at TW said its a fine stick to do double duty. I am thinking about pairing it up with a Daiwa Megaforce Plus baitcaster. I was also contemplating the shorter 7'6" version. Thoughts or advice? Much appreciated. Quote
bassprofishguy Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 awesome rod but i duuno id think about putting a better heavier duty reel on that rod spec. if your going to dump your hooks in slop and heavy veg.cause you get a bite in that remember your going to be pulling up 20lbs of that junk along with the fish, something with a heavy duty drag,id go curado or revo sx or higher end daiwa Quote
Lard_Bass Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 I just modified my post. I meant the Megaforce Plus but don't know if that is must better than the regular Megaforce. I was looking for a 7.1:1 reel and it stood out. It felt smooth when I was at the store but again, I don't know how the drag is. Thanks for the heads up. I 'll look into some other reels. Quote
bassprofishguy Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 alls i know of the upgraded megaforce is more bearings as for everything i else i.e drag and all i believe its the same,i know ppl who have the viento from daiwa and they say after awhile the twitchin bar becomes more pain then a bennifit.but cant go wrong on that rod i love my Cstick.email TW and see what they say see if they can give you more specs on the upgraded mforce Quote
Lard_Bass Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 Bassprofishguy, Thanks for the feedback on the C-stix. Do you use yours for flippin/pitchin or other applications. What is your stix paired with? Quote
bassprofishguy Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 i got the 7mh fast and 7xh...both paired with revo sx'x for the power of the drags,i use one for just like you pitching into slop holes and the other i use for deep crankn or whatever i feel like putin on it that day,but for the money that stick cant be beat go read reviews everyone raves about them theyre taking the lead over 300-400 rods i have more expensive rods but i love this rod sure its a little ugly haha with that bright orange but it handles like a cadillac.plus a lifetime warranty.just weird how a rod can be made out of actual carrots (or should i say carrot nano fibers) dunno but its awesome...lemme know what you think of it when you get it and hold onto it Quote

Dang thing won't stop flapping when I would reel in. First one did it out of the box and the replacement after a few months. It now sits on the shelf colecting dust. Quote
BigBrotherThunda Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 if your gonna spend that amount of $$$ go with the td tierra, a substantial upgrade over the MF plus. only 10-15 more$ most of the time, or if your on TW go with the Black Widow II, its colors match the carrot SICKLY! and its a better reel than the MF plus Quote

That black widow looks sweet. Unfortunately, neither reel is 7.1:1. Quote

barroncooper Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 because of you and this thread i bought one. I figured for 89.00 what the hell. i needed a new flippin/frog stick. they're ugly an i've heard the break but with a warranty like that i said what ever. if i don't like it i'm sure some newb woud take it off my hands for what i had in it. i get it tomorrow and i'll post my review for what ever it's worth Quote
bassfishign62 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I like the 7'6 for swimbaits and pitching but for flippin the 7'9 is just right. not to big not to small. Quote
joeyd50 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Been using the 7'9" for jigs, I like it, I just suck at fishing jigs. Quote
bweave09 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Do you think this rod would make a good Jig?Thanks Joe It would probably make a better rod than it would a jig ;D Quote
promax200 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I use a 7'9"xh counter-weighted with 6 ounces, matched with a 2nd gen Quantum Tour PT 7:1 for flipping. It balances perfectly for flipping, keeps the rod tip up effortlessly, feels light as a feather and can pull up the friggin' lake bed with 65 lb. Power Pro. Quote
joeyd50 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Do you think this rod would make a good Jig?Thanks Joe It would probably make a better rod than it would a jig ;D I know, I seen that Quote
barroncooper Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 well... I'm impressed. I cant believe how light this rod is for almost 8feet. it pitches and flips effortlessly and I think i kinda looks cool with a curado. I'll be honest and say that i was one who said to myself "i'll never buy one of those" just because that's what people were saying. but on the other hand i'm glad i waited because i got one for 89 Quote

I used 2 oz. and i thought it felt perfect. I have a curado e7 on it. Quote
promax200 Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Meh.......different strokes. Thats the beauty of a rod with a weight port. It becomes custom, basically. Quote
