jdw174 Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Here's the criteria (spinning only): 1. Should work for both shakey-head and dropshot. 2. Line will be 20lb braid w/co-poly leader (10lb) 3. Keep cost at $100 (+ or - a buck or two) Looking for something in the Vendetta, BuCoo, Veritas line of rods, but I'm open to other suggestions. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted September 20, 2010 Super User Posted September 20, 2010 Out of the given rods, Bucoo, hands down 8-) Quote
jdw174 Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 Ah, OK. I'm kinda looking for which model number on the suggestions. I hate buying something sight unseen, but I may have to here. Is a 7' medium too light for shakey-heads? Is the 7' MH too heavy for dropshotting? My mind is going in circles here. Gotta be one rod for both. Quote
Super User webertime Posted September 20, 2010 Super User Posted September 20, 2010 Lamiglas Excel 703 or 704. I have a 703 with a Pflueger Supreme XT and YoZuri Hybrid 6lb. Works really well for shaky heads for me. It might be a bit soft/slow for drop shots but the 704 takes care of that. $100 shipped from that "Warehouse" store. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted September 20, 2010 Super User Posted September 20, 2010 I don't get it....Tackle Warehouse...was that so hard...I'd go for one of the regular LTX Carrot Stix on sale Quote
Nine Miler Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Shimano Compre Spin Rod 6'8" Medium XFast- CPS-X68MB 3/16-5/8oz Line Weight: 6-12 lbs. $109.99 8-) Quote
okiefisher8 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I love the falcon line of rods. That being said I have talked to falcon and from the sound of it all of the bucoos have more of a moderate action, I would check out the veritas. Quote
jdw174 Posted September 21, 2010 Author Posted September 21, 2010 Thanks for the suggestions so far. Sadly, the CarrotStix LTX's at TW are sold out (the one I wanted). Right now I'm leaning towards Webertimes suggestion on the LamiGlass. I'm headed out on a gear safari this morning to see what's available locally, but more than likely *** will get the nod................... Quote
