Shimano Curado CU200

The Curado CU200B was at one time THE most popular reel of choice for thousands of tournament fisherman around the country for years. It is quality and dependable. They are still very desired reels. Buy it.

I have CU200's that have worked flawlessly for 10 years.  It was a watershed reel when introduced and a big reason for Shimano's reputation for high quality among bass fishermen.  That said, there are reels with smoother retrieves, and reels that cast farther with fewer backlashes, and reels that throw lighter baits better (many of them are Shimano products!).  But a well maintained CU200B is still a good reel that will last indefinitely.  Whether it's a deal depends on the price you pay below its original $119 retail price.  BTW, the Shimano Citica is Shimano's current reel at the $119 price point and is basically an enhanced CU200.

I have 4 and love them. They were the first reels I bought at over the $100 price point, and once I had one, I "needed" more.

I have recently updated a lot of my set ups and the CU200's don't see a whole lot of action these days.

I have been toying with the idea of selling them, but they are hard to part with.

I have three and one is my dedicated crankbait reel which I upgraded with abec 7 bearings and Smoothie drag washers. It will cast a crank a mile and keep on tickin

My oldest CU200B is more than a decade and a half old, I can squeeze perhaps a decade more out of it, you can have it the day I die and I 'm willing to bet it 's still going to be working flawlessly.

My only beef with them is the EL Cheapo plastic cast control knob which BTW you can change for an aluminum one for a few dollars, all you need is to order one from Shimano.

E series CU200, or one of the older D or B series CU200's ?

I have a lightly used cu-200b and I like it.  It is quite smooth.  It's more bulky than some of today's smaller 100 size reels, but I still like/use it today.
