Throughout this thread the pound rating of the braid & mono is specified (40# to 65# for braid and 70# Samurai braid) You bought 20# : Quote
qp_iGniTe_qp1301600405 Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 Ok, call me and idot and were even? Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted September 19, 2010 Super User Posted September 19, 2010 ...but then didn't even wake up :'( But I will see if this set up works out tomorrow if not o well, but I think I will be fine. Heck with the line... you better invest in an alarm clock. Quote
qp_iGniTe_qp1301600405 Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 ^^^ Lol I had my alarm setand it went off even. But I guess that is what happens when I go to bed at 2 am that morning But I will be ordering line soon because stupid academy did not have anything and I don't want to drive and hour to cabela's. I will be getting firline in 40 # to 65# and with the fluoro do I just want it to match the diameter of the braid? Quote

But it's your money and your choice I guess. Just kidding, fireline is pretty good; used it for a while, before switching to Samurai. 14 lb test or thereabouts for the FC leader should be okay IMO. Depends on the sort of cover you are fishing. Remember, the leader is the weak point in the line system. If the line breaks, it will break at the leader-to-mainline knot, or the knot at the hook. Iaconelli uses the heaviest line he can get away with (he was talking about the bass seeing the line). I use the lightest line I can get away with (re: getting snagged etc). There are leader materials available on the market (stiffer, more sensitive, and quite pricey). You can go for those. Or use regular FC mainline as leader material. Quote
qp_iGniTe_qp1301600405 Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 Well I don't mind using Samurai. Thanks for anwsering my question, I alreasy have 12 # flouro so I will stick with that and just replace my braid. Quote

Else I might just have a horde of angry Fireline fans on my tail You might want to hang around a while for others to chime in on the topic of the lb test for the leader. There are so many guys out here way more knowledgeable than I am. Edit: Went through the thread and found that you picked up some Trilene 100% FC. I think that's good stuff. Quite sensitive and holds up well to abrasions. Check your knots though. I have read stuff about its poor knot strength; never experienced it myself. Quote
