Need advice from someone that owns a chronarch and a curado?

Im in the market for a new reel. I LOVE my E7, but the chronarch has me intrigued. I have a few questions:

1. Does the chronarch handle light baits much better?

2. For an all purpose rig where some loooong casts are made from time to time. Is the lower line capacity an Issue? Judging by how far I can fling a trap with my E7 I wonder if I'll spool a chronarch if I up the line size.

3. What other advantages does the chronarch have?

I own a D7 and an E7 both cast equally well. To be quite honest the differnce between the two as far as performance is minor. Both wll serve you well if you want to save some money the E7 will be just fine.

I have the Chronarch 50MG and the E5, the 50MG cast a lot better than my E5.  I usually use 3" swimbait w/ 1/4oz leadhead, Lucky Craft FM110, and Sara Spook Jr.  but the drag in E5 is way better than the CH50MG to think that I've already upgraded the 50MG with the carbontex smooth drag.  Some Shimano reel models just work great with the stock dartainuim drags.

which chronarch reel are you talking about?  If you're talking about the chronarch D reels then it's performance is equal to that of the curado E.  However, due to the better bearings in the chronarch as compared to the curado E reels the chronarch feels better when retrieving.

I have a chr. 50mg and a e7.  IMO the 50mg will cast lighter baits better and its better for flipping.  Lack of line has never been an issue for me.  I would never put 17# mono on any of my reels though.

As far as the new chronarch,  I've never used one.

I handled both when I was ready to buy a Curado. I wound up getting the Chronarch bpv101. I also have a Curado 301E, 2 different sized reels I know, but the Chronarch feels much smoother in my hands. IMHO, it's worth the extra $$$.

I have several Chronarchs and Curados from the different eras as both have evolved, Chronarchs no matter which ( A,B, D ) perform a little better than Curados but they are much nicer than Curados, super smooth reels, they feel tighter, so what you get for the extra money is:

1.- Smoother operation

2.- Better & more bearings

3.- An aluminum handle sideplate.

4.- Slightly better performance.

In my book those extras are well worth the price. Not that Curados are bad, they are great reels but Chronarchs are much nicer.

I have both and like both. Subtle differences as already mentioned. If you have the extra coin I say try the Chronarch, I have mine paired with a Powell spinner bait rod and it performs flawlessly, then again so do my Curado's. I cast super light spinner baits with it no problem. I have never had an issue with spooling it.

Bottom line both are great reels, but if you are asking if you would be satisfied with spending a little extra to have the Chronarch, then my answer is yes.

Get the Chronarch, it will bug the heck out of you if you don't.

How do you know they're better bearings?

The Chronarch has the A-RB(Anti-Rust Bearing) while the Curado has that standard Shielded Stainless Steel Bearings. The A-RB in Chronarch is unshielded and Black in color, same with the Core and Calais.

One advantage of Curado E over the Chronarch is the bearing in the handle knobs.

can withstand brackish water better than stainless steel bearing. Anything that last longer is always better!

Yup, they are better, smoother and more free spinning than shielded bearings.

Thanks guys! For the record I was looking at the chronarch D. I think Im just going to stick with the E7 due to the extra line capacity/price.

The money saved will go towards my first cumara.

When you get your first Cumara you will be thinking, "Man, why did I get the new reel when I could have had another Cumara?" I am about to buy my fourth Cumara and two Curado 50E's. Now all of my combos will be CuradoE/Cumara. I would love to have Core's on my Cumara's but Core's don't detect light bites.
