Super User Hammer 4 Posted September 5, 2010 Super User Posted September 5, 2010 Not to be rude, but there are a TON of threads re: which reel is best, your fave ...ect, ect..What is the point of starting another one..? SHIMANO. 8-) Quote
Nibbles Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Daiwa for me. In my eyes they deliver good consistent value at a reasonable price. Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted September 5, 2010 Super User Posted September 5, 2010 I voted not a fanboy. I have Pinnacle ABU Shimano Daiwa Pflueger Quantum Zebco reels. St Croix Pflueger BPS Mitchell UglyStick rods. My favorite of each would be my Pinnacle bc and St Croix spinning rod. Quote

trevor Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Tough one. If I did not feel obligated to buy from Ardent, I probably would have stuck with Daiwa BCs and Shimano Spinning reels. BUT..... got the XS 1000, and I'm lovin it and I'm more loyal to America than Daiwa, so now I'm an Ardent customer. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted September 5, 2010 Super User Posted September 5, 2010 Why isnt Quantum Reels an option? even thought the gear isnt popular on this forum its a real choice. stir stir stir Quote

Red Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I voted for Abu. They have been good to me. I have recently replaced my rods with Lamiglas Excel's....Made in USA...nuff said. If ardent ever comes out with lefty models I may just make that switch as well. Quote

Super User NorcalBassin Posted September 6, 2010 Super User Posted September 6, 2010 Tough call for me between Shimano and Abu. Shimano holds the lead right now, but I'm about to pick up an STX... we'll see. Quote
Craiger12 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Love my Zillions. Love my Core 51s. Love my 2010 Premiers. I just realized that these are the only reels I currently own. Quote
rumbal Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Baitcast reels - Shimano Spinning reels - Daiwa. Quote

Maybe I just need to get the Shimano tuned. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted September 6, 2010 Super User Posted September 6, 2010 1. Shimano/Daiwa 2. Abu (but gaining) I really love my Zillion, Core, Chronarch and Skeet Reese Revo. Hated the Premier, went through several of them all had issues! Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 6, 2010 Super User Posted September 6, 2010 12 Daiwas 12 Shimanos 4 Abus I stopped purchasing Abus many years ago, don 't know what happened but suddenly the quality wasn 't there anymore, after a couple of regretable purchases they lost my business, that 's when I began purchasing Shimano and Daiwa, apparently Abu has made it back, I 've fishe with a couple of Revos ( S and STX ) and found them to be nice reels, however I don 't know if I 'll purchase Abu again, Shimano and Daiwa got so much new very nice stuff. Quote
Super User Micro Posted September 6, 2010 Super User Posted September 6, 2010 I have 9 Daiwas (5 Zillions, 2 Fuegos, 2 Sols) and 10 Shimanos (1 Core, 1 Calcutta, 1 Castaic, 2 Curados, 2 Stradics, 2 Symetres and 1 Spirex). I sold all of my Abus. With my Revos I had several with bearing issues and one with metal shavings in the reel. With my Cardinals, I had one 800 with bearing problems, and a 500 ALB with paint flaking off. To their credit, Abu replaced all of these reels. But they should have never made it out the door with these problems. I have not encountered any problems of any sort with any of the my Daiwas or Shimanos. Quote
SJB1226 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I fish ONLY Daiwa reels, Daiwa, Evergreen and Megabass rods.. and one of the three NRX's kept a full time spot on the boat, the other two was sold off! 90% of my reels are JDM models I have a very large Limited edition collection. I do have a few USDM Zillions, Steez and Sol's 1 fuego and 1 viento. If its a reel and it isnt a Daiwa it isnt on my boat!!! Go Daiwa or go home! Quote
