bassking1976 Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 quantum code was workin great then one day out on water stated makin slight noise while reeling in....tried it couple days later and no noise....needs oil or sumthin else? Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted August 26, 2010 Super User Posted August 26, 2010 What kind of noise? I know it can be hard to describe but it might help. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted August 26, 2010 Super User Posted August 26, 2010 Maybe oiling your spool bearings will help? I had a cheaper Quantum before, and while it was good, one outing it was sort of screeching when I casted and retrieved. Sand had gotten between the mag breaks and the spool. So open the sideplate and check for any debris and give your bearings a little oil and report back to us. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted August 26, 2010 Super User Posted August 26, 2010 Casting I would look at spool bearings. Retrieving I would look at handle bearings or any bearing pack in the crank stack. Also any bushings in the crank stack. It might be time for service, you have a solid sponsor here with Mike at DVT... Good Luck & Tight Lines!! Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Without more detail or seeing the reel, I can't add much to RM's comments. I'll be glad to check it for you if you'd like to send it in. Quote
bassking1976 Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 well fairly new to using baitcasters so not sure what is what inside is it possible to service the reel without takin off all line b cuz recently put on brand new power pro braid and dont feel like wasting it noise hard to describe but only madenoise when reelin and not casting if that helps appreciate all the help guys Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted August 26, 2010 Super User Posted August 26, 2010 Does it only happen with braid? because braid is notoriously noisy Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I use some Power Pro braid and it is noisy, especially when new. That could be your issue especially if the reel still feels smooth when retrieving. I request that line be removed or taped over during servicing. Quote
