Revo better than the Curado?

WOW 6 PAGES!!! Ok I see that the contest is very close I fished with a Used curado once and I dont remember it being super smooth. Drag really isnt a big deal to me.

My dads SX is really smooth, These reels sound very alike some people will swear theres has magic powers and some ask why theres dont so...

It is gonna come down to stuff as small as looks.

Well, the Curado E must fish better than it looks, because it does not look good as far as fit and finish go. OTOH, it is Shimano's base reel. When you move up to the Chronarch you get more than just increased smoothness.

I agree. But I have to say again..my 301 cast's pretty dang well for still having the factory lube in it. I also feel that the fit & finish is fine for a reel in that price range, I'm not out to win a beauty contest.. ;D

I will say, that I intend to have the 301 semi super tuned, and upgrade the drag..I'll post back on how that works out.

That is a FINE choice.  Light baits, heavy baits, will do it all.

The Premier is a nice reel, but a bit delicate.  I've had to rebuild more than two with broken nose bezels, thumbars, worn out handle knobs and other minor issues.

I think the Premier would be a nice choice, I have a STX and love it. It cast light baits with ease, and is very very smooth. I think my next purchase will be a Premier....

As far as Shimano or Abu, I have to say Abu... I have a Revo Silvermax that just wont quite and cast a crankbait a mile, and a STX that I love. Abu is just easier to cast, and on windy days I can dial it in without having to adjust the C brakes...

I have a Citica 200D and a Citica 200E, I prefer the D over the E because to me it cast better and is smoother... The E can give me trouble sometime, it might need a cleaning to fix it but who knows. My silvermax has never been cleaned and is still casting great.

So my vote goes to Abu.

IMO get a Daiwa Zillion. Smooth as glass and casts well I hear. And its 10 dollars cheaper than the Premier but I dont thinks its gonna make a difference to you. They are SOOO super comfortable and palmable. Probably the most ergonomic reel out there IMO and there is literally a Bajillion upgrades out there for it. And I think it would look sick with your Vendetta's IMO 8-) Im buying a Zillion as soon as I get the cash

That's the first I've heard of any issues like that with a new Premier! Was this the older, 6 bearing black anodized one or a new 2010, 10 bearing one?

I've been fishing my 2010 Premier's pretty hard since I bought the first one around Xmas last year. I fish 4-6 days a week, and have even boated a 19lb striper with one of them (no sweat at all). It has shown zero signs of wear or any problems whatsoever.

for all th abu guys... only reason i don't like revos is because the worm gear cover plate is so dang small that the nut is exposed and rubs on my fingers. funny thing is they changed this on the orra sx so i was hoping that they were going to fix it on the new revos but they did not.  I have two curado 200e7s and they are ok. i have heard that abu is having some qc problems with there oem here in korea and have been sending there top guys lately at least once a month to get it fixed. clutch problems from what i hear. any way they are working on it so they do care.... i'm looking forward to the smoke release....... so sweet

Sorry, I don't understand. The only nut that is exposed on the reel is the one holding the handle on. Is that what you mean?

I just went out to the garage and compared my E7 to one of my '10 Premiers, and the E7 has a rounded nut keeper on the handle where it's more exposed on the Premier. I read a post by one other guy saying the swept handle on the '10's cause him to catch that nut with his finger. Just shows we're all different and have different ways of holding/reeling our reels, I guess. I've never once contacted that nut on any reel I've ever owned. But I guess it might be a good idea for Abu to think about a Shimano style keeper for the handle nut since it does seem to be an issue for a few folks.

I see all kinds of broken parts, on many different reels.  For whatever reason, I had a bunch of Premiers on the bench.  Not what I'd use myself, but I still think they're a nice reel, especially when they're on sale.

He's talking about the pawl cover on the line carriage.  It moves back and forth, and certain reels aren't compatible with the way some people hold the reel, and their fingers get pinched.

I lay my left thumb on top of the reel.  My index finger wraps around the front of the reel.  And mt 3rd, 4th and 5th fingers are under the reel seat. 

On some reels, the pawl cap is very exposed and rubs back and forth across my index finger when cranking.  This doens't happen on any Daiwa reel I have.   I can wrap my finger around the front of them and never touch the pawl cap.  On the Curado I can feel it a bit.  But on the Revo, I can really feel the pawl cap moving.  That's a very irritating to me.

Interesting. I never notice that, so I guess I hold my reels differently.
