I am looking at investing in a new rod and the crucial and cumara are some definite options right now. I am wondering what you guys think of the quality of Shimano rods? Don't hear to much about them here. Let me hear your opinions!

I've switched the vast majority of my rods to Cumara this year.  I still have a lot of Loomis and St Croix, as well as a handful of others, but I've been very happy with the Cumara.  I also have some Crucial rods, including the drop shot rods and really like them.

They're light, they're sensitive, and they have a great warranty.

They're no GLX, but they're a great rod for the money.

I use Loomis rods for everything except plastics.  For plastics I use the Cumara series.  They are awesome rods!

I have a few Shimano rods..Even the Clarus works good, the upper line of course is much better. One thing you can't beat is their warranty, over the counter Lifetime exchange, no questions asked.  8-)

All of my reels are Shimano as well. :)

Not at all dealers. The Atlanta BPS will only do an over the counter exchange for the first year. After that it has to sent back to Shimano on your dime.

BPS is passing the buck then.

According to the manager, they were asked by Shimano to "protect their interests" in a meeting earlier this year. At first I thought it was just BS, but after the changes to Loomis' Xpeditor service, I believe he was telling the truth.

I like my clarus spinning a lot.  I have a Shimano tallus blue water for offshore spinning, it's fair, doesn't compare to my Star rods( sorry I bought this one).  I also have a freshwater sojourn I use in saltwater for barracuda, 1/2 -3 oz 25 lb class, casts excellent with a great backbone, wonderful rod and it was only $ 29.95.

I'm so happy with my Cumara, that it's silly! Best rod I ever felt for the $200 price range. Mine's the 6'8" MH XF.

There isn't one.  You'd need to buy the Crucial flippin stick if you wanted one.

Yes they are. Cumaras are an IM10 blank, Crucials are an IM9. Cumaras have SiC guides, the Cucials have Alconites.  The reel seats are different.  Completely exposed blanks for the Cumara.  The Cucials have ECS seats.  The flippin stick I have has a great tip, and plenty of backbone.

I 've got a couple of Shimano Clarus rods, granted they are not IMXs, still very nice rods for the money, actually a few trips ago I fished all day with one of them, my GLoomis ' just went for a ride.

Sorry for being so long-winded here.

I was in the market for some new rods this season so I went on my annual rod hunt. I have a little different way of feeling a rod's sensitivity than others. I carry a small spool of line in my pocket and a tiny Leatherman with scissors. First, I cut a piece of line about a foot longer than twice the length of the rod. Then, I tie one end to the hook keeper and run the other end through all the guides. Last, I pull the line back down to the hook keeper (just like a lure) and tie that end also. If it's not tight just grab the line halfway up the rod and rotate the rod once or twice wrapping the line around the rod. Now, instead of sitting there tapping the tip on a display rack I can tap the line on it instead and get a more realistic idea of how sensitive the rod will be when a fish "taps" my line.

I know, I know...I get some strange looks it takes alot more time but I feel it's warranted when spending $220+ on each of my rods. I did this to every high end rod I could find and the Shimano Cumara was my choice. A couple were as sensitive but not as comfortable. Cumulus was not out yet :)

It's the reason I no longer own Shimano rods.  :)
