Super User Wayne P. Posted August 21, 2010 Super User Posted August 21, 2010 In the advertizement, it has a quality I do not want (stiffness). "Inroducing Cortland Master Braid it's a premium super braided fishing line constructed using all the best features of Cortland's legendary Spectron braided line, but with a unique coating that makes the braided fishing line permanently stiff. Master Braid is also constructed in a way that is rounder; which means less twist, greater accuracy, longer casts and extended life." It also states an impossibility (less twist) becauses twist is a function of the presentation and equipment. All lines twist the same amount using the same presentation and equipment. Superlines as just not affected by twist like monofilaments are (no loops and tangles). Quote
VolFan Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 I'm still not getting why you guys want a stiffer braid. I thought the limpness was part of the point. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted August 21, 2010 Super User Posted August 21, 2010 a braid that is to limp backlashes easier at the beginning of the cast.a braid that is to limp wind knots easier.a braid that is to limp digs in more than a braid that has some body to it.when we are talking stiffer we are not talking as stiff as mono.all we mean is a braid with a little body to it.spiderwire ultracast is the softest limpest braid i have seen.it also backlashes and digs into itself .fireline braid is a tighter stiffer braid and is rounder.it does not dig at all and casts much better.if cortland braid is as round but with a little more body it would be even nicer.if it is to stiff it will not be. promax200 Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Cortland Master Braid is not new stuff. Saltwater anglers have been using it for awhile. I started using it off and on (when I can find it) on my saltwater casting and spinning rigs around '06 or so when I lived in Key West. I don't know of any places here in Jacksonville that carry it, and I desperately wish there was because its fanfreakintastic line. I would strip the PowerPro off every one of my rigs right now if I could go out today and buy some Master Braid. I'm an instant gratification kinda guy so buying it online doesn't excite me very much. I haven't tried Samurai yet, although one place in Jax carries it. I should get off my duff and go get some.
