adclem Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Looking for some feedback on these 2 reels. I am wanting to try out a couple of them. They will be used for swim jigs and finesse jigs. Thanks, Quote
trevor Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Tierra is a nice reel. Casts great, no backlash problems, and nice and smooth. Palms great for me (I have average sized hands). Quote
Fat-G Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 The Advantage is amazing. The Tierra is okay. I would have rather gotten a Citica. Quote
SJB1226 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I bought my nephew 3 Advantage HSTA (The super tuned one) and he absolutely LOVES them.. he likes them more then the Fuego's I bought him with TW had them on sale at like 118.99 I believe it was in late DEC early jan.. I bought 6 Fuegos and gave him two.. to me the Fuego preforms a lot better but he really likes those HSTA's I have played with them some to just to check them out and they are impressive I got them new in box for like 115-120 on ebay like 2 years ago for him He likes them better then the Fuego's because he is so used to them I fish a lot of TD-Z's so I love the frame of the Fuego.. performance wise the HSTA cast really well handles 1/4oz lures with ease and can go lower but you wont get much distance.. with a 1/4oz trap on a 6'10 mh rod (I dont member what kinda rod he uses I believe its 6'10) and 12lb mono it cast plenty far its a very smooth reel that you can tell is solid and built well... the drag is very very smooth and hold up well. IDK about the Tierra but im sure its a great reel and its more less an Advantage but I would def. go with a HSTA I know you will be happy that reel simply preforms and it cant be touched at its price point. you should be able to find the in the 120 to 140 price range brand new with ease... a nice used one on ebay should be like 80-90 bucks... that reel is a steal at anything less then 120 dollars its a great reel at 140 from what I know of it... he fishes with me A LOT and he fishes with my dad A LOT so those reels have been well used and I have never cleaned them or did anything other then put a drop of rocket fuel on the spool and side plate bearings from time to time, and they have been flawless and still feel like they did the day he got them. Super User burleytog Posted August 16, 2010 Super User Posted August 16, 2010 With the exception of a couple of bearings, they're the same reel. Quote
Dockhead Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I grabbed a Tierra pretty cheap off of Ebay. I had been using centrifugal braking reels only for quite a while, and was interested to see if the magnetic worked for me. Big mistake, only because I love it and can't find any good deals on them lately. May have to break down eventually and get another. If I see one for less than retail I will pick it up instantly. silverbullet32 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 i have the megaforce on the tierra rod and it works perfectly for me (topwater and soft plastics). just my two cents Quote
