I am looking to get a new rod, a medium light for throwing smaller, lighter weight plastics, such as 3" sluggos.  I have been looking at the St. Croix Mojo, 6'9" ML, an Abu Vendetta, 7' ML and a Gander Mtn Titanium, 7' ML.  Both the Abu and the Gander Mtn. feel lighter.  I think the Abu has a little faster tip than the St. Croix.  I have a St Croix Avid that I really like.

How does the Mojo compare to that, or the other two rods for that matter?  The St. Croix is $20 more than the other two, but I would spend that if it were the better rod and because I believe the Mojo is made in the U.S.  Correct me if I'm wrong there.   Any thoughts? BTW, the Mojo is listed as being for drop shotting, but I'm not sure that matters.

I'm sure it would work for my purposes.

You will problably get alot of negative reviews on the mojo but i own 3 and really like them.

I had a couple mojo's, I gave them away. I also have several Avids that are my favorite rods. I also have, and fish several different grades of Gander Mtn. rods. The Gander line of rods are all very good at each price point. The titanium rod is light, sensitive, and has a much faster tip than the mojo does.

the rods arent bad, but IMO they are just too tip heavy. id really suggest store fishing the rod first.

Mojo's are tip heavy, I've only heard bad things about the Vendetta spinning line, (but they're baitcasters are good).. And well i don't know anything about the Titanium line but my dad own several Gander rods and likes them.

Not a bad rod, just not St.Croix's better (Avid) or best (LTB or LE).

The Mojo is built on the same blank as the Premiere (SCII graphite). The only difference between the two rods are the split grips on the Mojo and the Premiere is built in the USA...

If I remember right the Mojo is still Designed in Park Falls and handcrafted in Fresnillo, Mexico..

Good Luck & Tight Lines!

I have a casting model for 1/4 oz-  1/2 ozworm fishing.  I think it is a great rod and works well for with my reel.

I handled the 6'8" MXF spinning rod and some Vendetta spinning rods, and was really surprised how tip-heavy the Vendettas were. I've read tons of posts about how tip-heavy the Mojos are, but the spinning models I've handled are MUCH better balanced than the similar models in the Vendetta lineup.

Personally, I'd pass on all three and pick up a Quantum Energy PT instead. Light, better balanced than the Mojo or Vendetta, Fuji Hardloy guides, and a lifetime warranty. I picked one up a little while ago for my brother-in-law to use and have been really impressed by it so far.

I have been very pleased with my Mojo spinning rod... I haven't noticed it being "tip heavy" either and have heard that doesn't become a problem with the Mojos until you get into the 7 footers.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.  I did notice that the Mojo seemed more tip heavy than either of the other two rods.

I was, frankly, really impressed with the weight and balance of the Gander Mtn. rod. Plus, it came with a 5 year, no hassle guarantee, if I remember correctly.

My wife has a Mojo spin and I have a Mojo casting rod. Both are outstanding to where I plan to get a spin for myself.

Now, I haven't cast all the others, but have no complaints on the Mojo.

I had the wacky style spinning rod. I thought the rod was decent for the money until I caught a 1lb bass and tried to lift it over a section of 2ft weeds while shore fishing. The rod broke about 10" from the tip. That said I wouldn't get another although I do have the Mojo Bass frog n slop rod. I think there are better rods for the money.

I agree with this.. I buy lower mid range rods for my boat guest to use.. I bought some Quantum Super lites for like 60 dollars each from Cabelas with the Cabelas club visa discount for guest to use and to give to my dad the rods are SICK at that price... I also bought some Quantum Energy PT for 40 dollars from a local tackle shop as guest rods and I gotta say they are nice rods and FAR out preform Mojos.. My nephew has a Mojo top water casting rod and a worm stick and even with braid they arent very sensitive the PT stick is more sensitive with mono then the mojo with braid and im not kidding and far better balanced then the worm rod and there the same action... the mojo top water rod is pretty light and balanced well but not the worm rod.. you can get the PT rods for a really good price on Ebay and close outs at your major stores.. or grab a super lite from Cabelas for cheap and have a rod that will FAR out preform any you said and at the sale price be cheaper... those rods at 80 bucks are a steal... the used to be 200 and to me they arent a 200 dollar rod... you can get a zillion rod at 200 and its FAR FAR better... but that is a good 150 dollar rod and you can get for 80 and its AMAZING at that price.
