Senkoman12 Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 right now i'm at the point of what i'm going to do different next year. right now i'm thinking about line. i know there have been tons of line topics right now. i have mono on all my rods except my flipping stick which has 30lbs original fireline on it. i want more sensitivity on my jig/worm rod, i have 14lbs mono on it and i'm thinking about braid and f/c leader but not sure what braid, samurai is out of the question, too expensive. i'm scared to use f/c as a main line. i'm also wondering if i should just use original fireline instead of braid. also is there any real good f/c or copolymors (sp?) that act close to mono for spinning rod (i know it will be a little stiffer) getting another jig/worm rod soon so im thinking braid on the too? please help i've always used mono and fireline and would like to expand on different lines Quote
TJHfishin Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Power pro 30lb or higher on the jig rod and I use a 17lb flourocarbon leader probably just have like 6 rowsw if u know like keep reeling until the spool guide thing goesd back to the one side or just do it 4 times just depends on cover and everything but that's what I do and that way u don't have a 4 foot leadr and have to tie new one on at the end of the day because of breaks or reties just ihmo Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted August 12, 2010 Super User Posted August 12, 2010 I use 30lb braid on my worm and jig rod. 12-14 lb fluoro leader in most situations with an Alberto knot. I'll tie the braid straight to a jig if I'm in enough cover. Been very happy with that. Quote
Scorcher214 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Yo-Zuri hybrid is a great line. It is a fluorocarbon and nylon combination. It has great strength/abrasion resistance. I didn't notice it being very stiff at all. That was my first time using any kind of fluorocarbon. Also, Sufix Siege is another mono i tried and it was AMAZING Next time i restock on line i will be buying Sufix Elite. I read a review on TackleTour about Elite and #12 line broke on average at i think 19.9lbs of force! Sufix is also wound on extra big spools and a winding process that nearly eliminate line memory. LOL i sound like a commercial, but im so excited to try elite! Quote
Rangerjoe Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Over the last several months I have been using Cabelas No Vis Fluorocarbon line in 20lb test, for all of my plastics. I have had no problem with memory (KVD) or knot problems (Palomar). The price is $20.00 for 400 yards which is a great deal. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 13, 2010 Super User Posted August 13, 2010 Copolymer: Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12 for baitcasting; #6 Hybrid Ultra Soft for spinning tackle Fluorocarbon: #12 Seaguar AbrazX for baitcasting; #8 InvizX for spinning tackle For your jig rod: Braid 50/12, no leader 8-) Quote
I.rar Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 i like p line cxx. the 10lb on a bait caster is just great. i tried the 6lb cxx on a small arbor spinning reel and it just didnt agree. depending on the spool size of the spinning reel , you may like it. cx is supposed to be much more manageable on spinning reels but i havnt tried it personally. after making the switch to braid (20/6 power pro), i wont go with anything else on a spinning reel. however , i do still use cxx as leader material and it holds up great to all the rocks and other line eating crap in my local lakes. Senkoman12 Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 also forgot to mention, that my current jig/worm, my excel, is also my spinnerbait rod, is braid good for spinnerbaits Quote
Nibbles Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 also forgot to mention, that my current jig/worm, my excel, is also my spinnerbait rod, is braid good for spinnerbaits I don't see why it wouldn't be. I tie my spinnerbaits directly to braid. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted August 13, 2010 Super User Posted August 13, 2010 also forgot to mention, that my current jig/worm, my excel, is also my spinnerbait rod, is braid good for spinnerbaits Since your using it for all those I would put spool up some CXX Quote
