marinetech Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 got caught in a freak out of nowhere storm yesterday , wind blew me off my feet and I broke my new g loomis rod in 3 pcs. I know warranty isn't going to do me any good for that. My question is can I by just a blank and reuse my guides and handle or should I just plan on buying another one ? It was like loosing a best friend , but had to save the boat before piling up on the rocks. Quote
Al Wolbach Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Go to the G Loomis wed site and look for the Xpeditor program. You can get a replacement for $100. Your timing sucks. Last weeks replacement cost was $50........Al Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted August 7, 2010 Super User Posted August 7, 2010 Not worth it anymore, no matter what rod you have. I'd look at another manufacturer. Quote
Ballpark Frank Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Not worth it anymore, no matter what rod you have. I'd look at another manufacturer. Although I have always loved G. Loomis, I must agree with this one. Tons of other companies out there with comparable products at better prices and warranties. Quote
bigfruits Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 $100 for a 200+ dollar rod? swallow your pride. get the loomis and switch brands next round. if you do end up getting a different rod and have imx or glx, pm me the model number. we may be able to work something out. Quote
Dave T. Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 As most others, I think it sucks that Loomis changed their warranty program. However, I have to agree. If you have a broken rod in your hand that cost over $200... getting a new one for $100 is still pretty decent. On a side note, for the time being (saying that quietly ;D) I'm glad my rods are St. Croix's. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted August 8, 2010 Super User Posted August 8, 2010 What model Loomis is it? If it's the GLX then pay the 100 bucks and replace it. Quote
marinetech Posted August 8, 2010 Author Posted August 8, 2010 the rod is a CR 723 GL2 , I have 3 johnny morris sig. series rods that I love but the loomis just seemed to have a better tip. So what should I try next that performs like the loomis ? Have been looking around but it gets confusing unless you can try it. Quote
northern basser Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Do you prefer shorter rods? The loomis you broke is a 6 footer if I'm not mistaken. I have a 6'6" Kistler helium 2 ltx I'd be willing to part. It's my favorite rod, but I'm addicted to 7 footers now. If I was able to sell it to someone I'd be replacing it w/ the exact same rod, but in 7'. Mint cond. $160 shipped. Quote
marinetech Posted August 8, 2010 Author Posted August 8, 2010 yes its a 6' and I am hooked on that length. I have 2 6'6" rods and 1 6'. Would love to trade the 6'6" for 6' Quote

Super User Bassn Blvd Posted August 9, 2010 Super User Posted August 9, 2010 Sorry to say, But IMO, you already wasted your money by not buying an IMX or GLX. Quote

I didn't want to say it but I will agree I'm not a fan of G-Loomis, had a crankbait rod and unloaded it after one outing, but they are a solid manufacturer. Are they pricey, yes, but I too wouldn't buy below IMX if I were to purchase on. Quote
