Nine Miler Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Looks pretty neat to to me. I mean, it doesn't seem like there have been many innovations other than with materials and shapes in reels in a long time. Good for them for some interesting new thinking. Its like that fan with no blades. Quote
AbuGarcia-4-Life Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I agree its just another type of reel, I dont think it will catch on after all you dont see and thr fans becoming bladeless. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted July 31, 2010 Super User Posted July 31, 2010 Ask that question in about a year. Quote
crw Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Not a new idea. I have a reel old Penn 350 with that type of level wind. It is a large reel, the size of a Penn 209. I use it for flatheads. Works well with tension on the line, not so well without tension. Quote

Super User Raul Posted August 2, 2010 Super User Posted August 2, 2010 Made in __________ <----- place here the name of whatever country you want, means just that, made in X country, made in X country = quality or the lack of ---> wrong. Workers build stuff with. 1.- whatever materials the company provides 2.- how they are told and taught to 3.- inspected by how they were instructed to inspect it And those three are given by the company management, they are the ones responsible for what comes out of the factory, not the workers. Besides, you think that a worker in country like China is going to do his job improperly and risk what he 's got when there are hundreds of people ready to take his job if he/she gets fired ? I don 't think so. Made in X country with poor materials and/or poor quality control and/or poor workmanship means bad quality no matter where it was made. Now on the subject of the reel ----> thanks but no thanks Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted August 3, 2010 Super User Posted August 3, 2010 Since the Hibdons (Guido & Deon) relationship with Diawa dissolved, they have become spokesmen for US Reels. They did a product demonstration at Rogers Lures in Liberty, MO earlier this spring, I got to talk to Deon for a while. They like these reels. I understand that they are getting paid to say that they like these reels, but still, Deon seemed sincere, and he said that they fished with them for a while prior to the decision to endorse them was made. I've got 4 of them & I think they work fine. I think occasionally long casts are important and I think that the larger spools on these reels help me make longer casts. I can't speak to their bait casting reels. Quote
