The Bassinator Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 The lure weight rating for this rod is 3/8-1oz but I was wondering if I could use a 1/4oz weight with it also. I was also looking at the Bucoo which is rated for 1/4oz lures. Tell me what you think of each and if the Mojo would be able to throw a 1/4oz weight. Thanks. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 You can get away with throwing a little ligher bait in a pinch, or once in a while, but for the best results, keep lure weights within the rating range of the rod whenever possible. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted July 27, 2010 Super User Posted July 27, 2010 I agree with DVT, but also think the Bucoo is a better rod in general. Am very impressed with mine. Quote
Nice_Bass Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I throw lighter than 3/8 on my mojo, works just fine. Of course, like anything else, works better with what is recommended. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 27, 2010 Super User Posted July 27, 2010 You can probably do it without a problem. When you add a trailer to that 1/4 oz jig, it will weigh more. Remember, the weight for the rod is the combined weight of the lure, not just the chunk of lead or tungsten that is written on the package. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted July 27, 2010 Super User Posted July 27, 2010 Definitely Go with the Bucoo. Alot better balance and better sensitivity IMO. Quote
The Bassinator Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Thanks for all the info guys! The only dilemma I have about getting the Bucoo is that I dont want it shipped because Ive already had a rod break on me and the nearest store that offers it that I know of is Cabelas but its almost 3 hours away! Super User BASSclary Posted July 28, 2010 Super User Posted July 28, 2010 Its worth the six hour drive, trust me i own one and had to do the same thing to get it, drive forever LOL ;D Quote
