I saw an ad for the Micro Magic on Tackle Warehouse's website and thought it looked like a pretty nice rod for the price.  I'm thinking that if I find a good reel to pair up with my Loomis rod, I might get a mid-level (price-wise) rod to pair up with my Rojo, and the Duckett Micro Magic caught my attention.  It will be used for pretty much everything, since I plan to use that rig for everything but T-rigging when I'm fishing for the big bass, but it'll be my go-to combo if I go farm pond hopping for smaller bass, too.  I'd be using 14 pound mono on it, with a pretty wide variety of lure weights (as low as 1/8oz. for Texas rigging, but I'd throw heavier cranks with it if I had to).  Does anyone have any reviews of the rod in general and/or know if it would provide a good application for what I'd be doing with it, or should I look elsewhere?

I have picked up these rods every time I go to my local tackle shop. I really like the feel of the rods and I am planning on purchasing one soon. The 6'9"MH rod they have seems to be well suited as an all around rod that you described you were looking for. They also have a 6'1" med. rod that would be a great small bait rod.

I asked for a review on the same line of rods without much luck. I'm getting one anyway.

That epoxy yellows really quick and on a white rod, it doesn't look good.  From what I can tell the look pretty cheap and I've heard they sacrificed blank quality for price reduction

Most of the stuff I've heard about them has been negative.  I'll have to check my browsers history, I found a few reviews a while back after Byron Velvick won.

It's pretty amazing that a rod that was hardly used is credited for his win.  If you looked at the baits on the rods, the Duckett rods had "clean" baits, the rods he primarily used had baits with stained plastic from the grass.

Wasn't that right out of Duckett's mouth?

That's the way the interview read to me

Don't know about the Duckett rods but the Kistler Micro rod is amazing. Kistler is using the Northfork blanks for their rods and I believe that they are the lightest and most sensitive rods out on the market. I have a couple of the micro magnesiums and a couple of the new z bones and will own more soon. Blank quality is great.
