Super User burleytog Posted July 15, 2010 Super User Posted July 15, 2010 After all the interest the old Pixy generated in the US, I figured they would bring the PX68 across the Pacific. Unless they're delaying the announcement, the only thing Daiwa brought to iCast was a few new Steez rods and a new spinning reel. Disappointing as there was a PX68 in my future. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted July 15, 2010 Super User Posted July 15, 2010 im not sure what Daiwa does from here........... they killed the Sol (huge mistake IMO) they killed the Fuego (another huge mistake) i like the Zillion a lot. im a huge Daiwa homer and im on the fence about some of their gear the last few years. this kid will be looking for used Sols and Zillions when he buys his next reels. I don't understand their constant Zillion special editions. Had the red one, now the black Type R. Not that they've ever really released much at ICast. Quote
Fat-G Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I seriously wish they would make a GOOD $90-$120 reel. I love my Advantage, and would love a reel just like it but a wee bit cheaper. Quote

RWSCHMITZ Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Daiwa is the new heavy weight of reels, the fat lady is singing at Daiwa, Z2020 8.9OZ, ZILLION 8.9OZ, PLUTON 12OZ ;D ;D ;D ;D Quote

Well, for what I 've seen is once they got a winner they exploit it to the max they can out of the frame and components; look at the TDZ: Basic TDZs TDZ103H TDZ105H TDZ103P TDZ100M TDZ105HL TDZ103HL Special editions: TDZ Type R TD Itö TDZ Type R+ TDZ Custom TDZ AOI TD 103GL-RZ TDZ100M US trail Quote
SJB1226 Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 The Daiwa booth at Icast this year almost made me throw up.... I was betting on the PX68 to become USDM and maybe even the Z2020.... NOTHING... cept some new Steez rods... and BTW the rods looked sweet I gotta have two... Im very disappointed in Daiwa... I fish NOTHING but Daiwa reels and Daiwa, Evergreen and Megabass rods... im very Loyal to Daiwa and really was expecting a new reel or two to the USDM market... oh well maybe next year... as for now back to importing. I still have hope that MAYBE just MAYBE they are delaying the announcement of some USDM releases...just trying to keep some hope alive. Quote
Skunked in DR Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Disappointing as there was a PX68 in my future. From the great Shimano homer? Say it ain't so Burley, say it ain't so. Quote
NateFollmer Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Could always get a new Quantum Smoke PT.... BAM! Yeah, I went there... Quote
Jake. Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Diawa has been very disappointing the last couple of years. Too many Zillion variants and not enough new freshwater reels. Quote
trevor Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I saw daiwa released saltiga ld's, not that bass fishermen care, but they look sick. Quote
Super User Micro Posted July 17, 2010 Super User Posted July 17, 2010 The Sol is still in Daiwa's lineup. Quote
avid Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 They made a bunch of TD-Z's but man what a winner that reel is. I have 5 in different models and they are all light, smooth and dependable. Durability of the finish is the only problem. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted July 17, 2010 Super User Posted July 17, 2010 One theory out there is that Daiwa is concentrating more on their salt water gear as that is a much larger market. Quote
SJB1226 Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 The Sol is still in Daiwa's lineup. No sir the SOL is no longer being made.... Quote
1inStripes Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 I must say I did like the upgrades to the Exceler as far as gearing goes. Quote

It's a nice reel, but I just want to see Daiwa's go at a "Citica competitor". Quote
