bassfishin14 Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 ive been throwing a lot of light football head jigs (1/4-3/8). and i need a rod that will load up and cast those light baits far. i currently own cumara MH extra fast and i feel that its a lil to stiff for the light jigs. my friend owns the medium version and its sweet but im not trying to spend 200+ so if anyone knows a rod between $100-150 please mention! thanks Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted July 15, 2010 Super User Posted July 15, 2010 BPS makes a nice stick called the NITRO. Its on sale now for 99 regular price is 130. I'd reccomend the 7 H/F. Very nice guides and inserts also they hold up extremely well with braid ! Edit: If you are throwing lighter jigs like mentioned above you can downsize the power of the rod to maybe a MH or M Quote
BigGame0892 Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I throw my 5/16 oz. finesse jigs on a Powell 703 or 704 just depending on the length of cast required and the cover. Great rods for the money, $139 shipped from ***. Quote
bigfruits Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 used cumara? wait for sale? i like 3 power loomis' for up to moderate cover and 2 power for the 1/4oz in small rivers targeting bottom structure. dont be afraid to use a medium in moderate cover. just get some good flouro and get alot of slobber on the palomar knot. i try to use the lightest rod i can get away with because it makes the fight more more fun and the jig crawling and casting more enjoyable. crappiekid24 Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 I use a 7ft MH Shimano Crucial to throw 1/4-1/2oz footballs and love it. I think that it throws 3/8oz and 1/2oz footballs the best but does a pretty good job with the 1/4oz jigs as well. Quote
