Berkley Sensation

Over the last couple of years I've used and loved Gamma co-polymer line. I use it for spinning and casting. I posted a while back as to an alternative as Gamma becomes harder to find. I tried Izorline and it seems ok, ( a little thinner and a little less tensile strength than Gamma ). Recently Berkley Sensation was recommended to me. Has anyone tried this line and how does it compare to Gamma?

I had a spool of 12lb and it's ok.  It's limp, soft, and smooth but the abrasion resistance sucks and it's not very strong, I would look else where

I agree with Kentucky, it has poor knot strength and abrasion resistance. Go with Original Stren or P -Line CX Premium, even Yo Zuri Soft.

Yeah, it's not the strongest line in the world, but I used it and it worked fine for me.

i didn't care for it.. didn't seem  very strong...and the spool i had had major memory issues even with KVD conditioner.

i am a Berkley XL and XT big fan

and also use the Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft...

I found it to be very strong, and nice handling. It's a "low stretch" line, so it likely reaches break point quicker.

Any time you try a new line to you, realize you may not be used to the properties.

Also, if you are expecting to compare different lines (like a line you were previously used to ), purchase by diameter, NOT break rating. Ratings are all over the place.

My son works in the fishing Dept. in a well known store. He told me "Berkley Sensation" has had nothing but GREAT reviews by the customers that have tried it. Many return to  re-purcahase. My other son tried it out and so far say's its fine. A little too early in them game for a full report from him. Very strong, memory fine, knot strength no problem. I plan in trying it out next spool I get.

I use it on a couple of my spinning reels and have had no problems with it

I'll add my two cents. Back when all I used was nylon mono, I had settled on Sensation as the best all around line I could find. I try everything I can. It's an obsession, I guess. Always looking for that elusive perfect line. Very strong for its diameter, good abrasion resistance for its diameter, great casting, little less stretch, decent sensitivity. Never had trouble with knots, except . . . My only complaint was that it seemed to weaken more quickly than a lot of other lines, then I would have knot troubles. I used it on both spinning and casting. Once in a while I'd get a spool that, no matter what I did, I couldn't get it to spool onto spinning without twisting. So, I guess that's two complaints. I still think it is very good line, overall.
