kbkindle Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Any body beside me haveing trouble with there flurocarbon line ? Put it on a spinning reel and open the bail and it comes off like a spring or a slinkey. Tryed one way on spool and then turned spool over same thing., it was 15 lb Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted July 14, 2010 Super User Posted July 14, 2010 How big is the spinning reel you are putting it on ? That's pretty heavy line to put on a spinning reel unless its a big reel. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 15, 2010 Super User Posted July 15, 2010 WAY too heavy. The best fluorocarbon for spinning reels is Seaguar Inviz, 8 lb test. 8-) Quote
TourPT Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 WAY too heavy. The best fluorocarbon for spinning reels is Seaguar Inviz, 8 lb test. 8-) I would have to agree with this. I use the Vicious on baitcating gear and like it, but it's a bit to stiff and not limp enough for a spinning reel IMO. The Seaguar is a much better choice for such. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted July 15, 2010 Super User Posted July 15, 2010 15lb is much too heavy for a bass sized spinning reel. I use 8lb maximum Quote
cufishin Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I had the 15lb on my shimano baitcaster, I took it off after 1 trip. Too much memory for my taste. also seemed thicker than most FC line in the same pound test class. Quote
Super User David P Posted July 15, 2010 Super User Posted July 15, 2010 They just unveiled a new fluorocarbon at ICAST, supposed to handle for better. Who knows though! For the price I've heard it's a good line, but there are certainly better on the market if you're willing to spend more money. As everyone said, shouldn't put over 8lb on a spinning reel. Quote
whoopbazz Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Too heavy for a spinning reel...especially FC. Quote
kbkindle Posted July 15, 2010 Author Posted July 15, 2010 You must be correct saying that the line i was trying to use was to big. All of you say the same thing Ia'm going to put #6 lb f. carbon vicious on my quantum energy e-20 ptib reel thank you Quote
D.Cox Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 WAY The best fluorocarbon for spinning reels is Seaguar Inviz, 8 lb test. I agree RW's post. I tried vicious at the last non boater tournament I fished and Seaguar Invez worked great in 8#. I also tried #8 P-Line which i love on a bait caster, Berkly and Stren. Do not fill spool as full, maybe 3/4 full. After spooling stretch out in yard and reel back on the reel. The tackle store ran out of Seaguar and the other option was #20 braid with Flour leader. Vicious was the largest size diameter per pound test. Dow Quote
Big Tom Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I used to have a spool of 20 lb. Fluorocarbon that took a hell of a lot of strength to tightly cinch a Palomar knot correctly. I couldn't imagine using 15 lb. on a spinning reel. I hope you find something that works better for you. Quote
oteymc Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 That vicious is some tough stuff, but man is it hard to handle! Quote
