TJHfishin Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 looking for the most sensitive braid in your guys opinion which braid has 6-8 strands and is 8 strands more sensitive then 6 Quote
WanderLust Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 looking for the most sensitive braid in your guys opinion which braid has 6-8 strands and is 8 strands more sensitive then 6 Power Pro is the best casting braid. Super low memory and very sensitive. If fishing ledges you will get some line cuts. Suffix Performance is the toughest braid I've ever used. Great for fishing salad. IMO of course. Quote
Nibbles Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I have a spool of Sufix 40# and PowerPro 20#, and I feel like there's not a lot of difference between the two. I can easily cut the sufix line with a pocketknife. The same cannot be said for the power pro. I think it's because the strands on the sufix come apart a bit easier. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 12, 2010 Super User Posted July 12, 2010 Sharpen your blade or buy a new knife. Quote
baluga Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I tried the fireline crystal, power pro, suffix performance braid and the stren spiderwire. All braids are sensitive since there are no stretch on it. Stren spider wire limp and flat, tends to dig in the spool and cost you lures on a snap when casting. Fireline crystal - good one but tends to get loose strands after several outing due to line rubbing against the ring guide. It loses it wax coating after several outing. It's thicker than most braid. Power pro good but noisy on the retrieve. You can hear the line rubbing against the rod tip. You can feel that it's not smooth when you run your finger on the. Sufix performance braid love this one. It's not noisy on the retrieve and the line is smoother and more rounded. Other expensive braids like Samurai braid- I did not bother to try since I'm happy with the suffix performance braid and besides that samurai is just too expensive. There's a $10 mail in rebate for 300 yards of Sufix and $6 rebate on 150 yards. I always tie a 3 yards of 12# FC on my 20# braid, this way I have a good fighting chance of pulling out the fish when they go into the rocks. All Braids tend to break easily when it get rub against the rock. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted July 12, 2010 Super User Posted July 12, 2010 The higher thread count braided lines have more stretch than the lower thread count braids. All braids have some stretch-it's a result of the weaving process. The fused superlines like Fireline have zero stretch. I can't tell any difference in the sensitivity of any of them. baluga, Stren and Spider wire are not the same brand. Quote
TJHfishin Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 so power pro is a good braid to use and 6 and 8 strands dont make a difference on sensitivity Quote
crw Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I use only braid, Power Pro and Suffix (6 bass rods and 7 catfish rigs. I see little to no difference in the 2, except the new Power Pro seems not bleed as bad and Suffix seems to stay a little stiffer over time. Both cast well. I use flor/mono leader on both. Where I am, Suffix braid is not easy to find. I have had both Power Pro and Suffix last over 2 years, I changed line not because of break offs, just wanted to. Quote
baluga Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 baluga, Stren and Spider wire are not the same brand. Thanks for catching that Wayne, after using spider wire one time I totally avoided and forget that line. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted July 12, 2010 Super User Posted July 12, 2010 What I use now. Stren Superbraid, Stren Sonic, Spiderwire UltraCast Ultimate Braid, Spiderwire Stealth, Original Spiderwire, Daiwa Samurai, Fireline, Fireline Braid, The best performing superline is the Daiwa Samurai The worst superlines I have tried is Power Pro and Spiderwire UltraCast InvisiBraid. I have checked the Suffix in a store with the fingernail test and it felt like Power Pro (wasn't interested in trying it) Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted July 12, 2010 Super User Posted July 12, 2010 Most of the pros I've spoken with recommend Samurai. Quote
baluga Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I'm sure Dawai Samurai is best, it cost more than double the price of sufix performance braid. Hmmnn if i can only justify and convince myself to get the samurai braid. :-[ Quote

baluga Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I'm able to justify getting a core 100mg and phenix ultra MBX rod cause i needed a really light weight setup, but replacing sufix braid with samurai...I just can't seem to pull the trigger. Getting a couple of Luckycraft fm 110 is much easier to justify. :-[ Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted July 13, 2010 Super User Posted July 13, 2010 the best braid without a doubt is it is the best handling and casting braid made.it is 8 strands at 30 lb and up and 6 below 30 lb.it does not dig at all in my use as long as you use at least 50 lb on your baitcaster.there is no other braid that does not dig.diawa samurai is super soft and smooth but will still dig in on a baitcaster. Super User iceintheveins Posted July 13, 2010 Super User Posted July 13, 2010 Power pro, hands down! Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted July 13, 2010 Super User Posted July 13, 2010 Power pro, hands down! Ever tried the Samuri..? Same question goes to Dodgeguy.. Quote
HopelesslyAddicted Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Could someone please tell me why power pro sucks? That's all I hear now is "power pro is outdated garbage " I really don't get it, because it works fine for me. I'm fishing it side by side with suffix and I don't really functionally see that much of a difference. What am I missing out on? How much better does it get? And why? Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 13, 2010 Super User Posted July 13, 2010 There is no best braid, all a matter of preference. I mostly use use PP 10-15- or 20#, few windknots, no digging in problem and casts just fine. I target "other species " fish which will test your line. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted July 13, 2010 Super User Posted July 13, 2010 "The best" is in the eye of the beholder. Quote
Super User David P Posted July 13, 2010 Super User Posted July 13, 2010 I'm sorry, but there's absolutely no competition, Daiwa Samurai is hands down the best. Now if we're talking best braid on a budget, there's several other braids that are cheaper, and still decent, but nothing compares to Samurai. I've tried, Powe Pro, Suffix, Spiderwire (Stealth and Ultracast), HI SEAS Grand Slam, P-Line, Fireline, Invisibraid, TUF-Line, and I'm sure there's others that I'm missing. Samurai is hands down the winner. Quote
NateFollmer Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I like Spiderwire (Ultracast) and Hi-Seas... Have I tried them all? Nope, but I found something that works and I'm sticking with them! I really don't see why people don't like Spiderwire? Am I missing something? Not trying to be smart about it, I just never have any issues with it... Quote
TJHfishin Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 Thank you so much guys i appreciate everyone's opinions i have some power pro and some berkley fireline Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted July 14, 2010 Super User Posted July 14, 2010 Power pro, hands down! Ever tried the Samuri..? Same question goes to Dodgeguy.. yes.it's good line and smoother than the fireline braid.it's also softer and digs where the fireline doesn't.my preference would be the fireline braid but i can understand some people liking diawa braid better.
