I am looking for a new baitcasting rod for jigs and worms.  I dont want to spend more than 120 bucks....I may do 150.  I have been looking at the St. Croix Mojo Jig and Worm rod but wanted to see if you guys has any other suggestions.

Thanks

Both my jig and worm rods are Falcon LowRiders, LFC-6-17's.  I like 'em.

The 7 foot Daiwa Cielo on sale at Tackle Warehouse.  Under $150 and you will not get close to that rod at that price.

Love my 6'9" MH x/fast Carbonlite.  Ultra lightweight, very sensitive.  Makes a fantastic worm and jig rod.

go for the Powell 683. best rod for the money. Powells get a little tip heavy at 7 feet, but the 6' 8" models balance nicely.  i think they retail for ~$130.00 now.  Good luck

Well,

I ended up ordering a Dobyns Savvy 704C.  I will let you now first impressions once I get it from TW.

It was a toss up between the 703C and 704C and decided to go with heavier rod.  Hopefully it fits my needs well!

I have a 704 and 703, I think you made the right choice.  Both are good rods but the 704 is more versatile with bottom baits.

How was  does the 704 fish Senkos?  I have a medium st croix for senkos but would be nice if the 704c was able to fish everything from senkos, texas rigged, to jigs well!

Fishes them fine, a t-rigged senko is rather heavy and it casts them pretty well.  I've fished senkos, ikas, 3/16-3/4oz t-rigs and jigs with no trouble.

Kistler Carbon Steel or catch a Magnesium on sale. You can get a Carbon Steel for $109. Super light and sensitive with plenty power.

I think you are going to really enjoy that Savvy.  I have caught a few fish using that exact rod and it is an impressive stick.

Let us know what you think.
