Super User Micro Posted July 11, 2010 Super User Posted July 11, 2010 Tackle Warehouse used to sell Fenwick, but has since dropped them. I sent an e-mail to them asking why and this was their reply: Hi, Fenwick no longer offers any bass specific fishing rods. Please e-mail info@***.com or call 1-800-300-4916 and one of our customer service representatives will be happy to help if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for choosing Tackle Warehouse. The Elite Tech line is broken down by fish-type with the majority of the line being bass specific. The HMG, HMX and GT lines are all heavy with bass grade rods. Not a problem for me, my local dealer stocks them, and you can order direct from Fenwick. Just thought TW's reasoning is a little off. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 11, 2010 Super User Posted July 11, 2010 Probably just a matter of dollars and cents, must not sell enough of that product to stock them, small margin or a dispute with the manufacturer. Quote
TrippyJai Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Micro, I still remember when you recommended me that HMG rod and I'm still in love with that rod. I am very disappointed in Fenwick lately. They removed the Techna AV line, the redesign of the HMG feels heavier with a ACS reel seat and I never cared for the Elite Tech's although I have a Crankster. Quote
Super User Micro Posted July 11, 2010 Author Super User Posted July 11, 2010 I never owned a Techna AV, but they felt great. I do like some of the Elite Tech line. I really like my 7'3" Crankshaft, though the grip could be an inch or two longer. The new HMG line had to grow on me. I really loved the older HMGs. But I'm convinced the new HMGs are almost as light. They are just as sensitive - that is to say very sensitive. I really like the new grip material and they seem nicer all over. My favorite is my 6'6' medium heavy-medium fast. It's a perfect spinner bait rod. I use it, however, for throwing Space Monkeys (it's my dedicated Space Monkey rod). What I hate about Fenwick is their crappy website. The descriptions of the rods is exactly the same for each rod in the line. And the photos are so small you can't see anything. Their website sucks. Red Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 I noticed they dropped them as well. I don't own a fenwick and never have. Recently though I tried my brothers Elite Tech froggin stick with an STX. I would love to have one for pitchin to this heavy timber I fish. Nice rod in my opinion. Quote
Super User Marty Posted July 12, 2010 Super User Posted July 12, 2010 Sounds like there's a reason that TW doesn't want you to know. Quote
LAO162 Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I bought my first Techna AV from TW through a price match. I wonder if Fenwick was allowing huge discounts to be advertised, which then meant TW had to price match at a loss... Quote
