Banor Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I apologize in advance if this is not the correct forum for sunglass topics. If not, move it wherever. I'm looking at getting prescription sunglasses. I obviously want good quality polarized sunglasses. Those of you that have prescription glasses - what do you recommend for tournament fishing. I understand how polarization and protection works. The problem is companies market their glasses well and can put up some convincing stats. I want to know from the field what the best is in practice, not on paper. Thanks, B Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Super User Posted February 4, 2008 I went to my optomitrist(sp?) where I have my glasses normally made and discussed it with them. We settled on a light green tint polaroid glass for my prescription. It has worked out great for me! Best off, I used the frames in older reading glasses, so the fit and feel was natural to me. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted February 4, 2008 Super User Posted February 4, 2008 I bought some prescription sunglasses last year and they are truly awesome. Mine are made by Maui Jim. I would highly recommend them. Quote
deadeye32. Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 You might look into a brand called "rudy projects". My brother plays college baseball right now and uses them. You can get 2 different lenses with your purchase and they actually look decent as well. I know a lot of pro ball players use them and I looked into them for fishing, but since I wear contacts, I really didnt need anything other than my solar bats. Good luck Quote
Super User senile1 Posted February 4, 2008 Super User Posted February 4, 2008 I don't know if I would accept eyeglass advice from a guy whose screen name is deadeye32. ;D Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted February 4, 2008 Super User Posted February 4, 2008 I use the Bolle' because you can have your script built into a smaller pair of lens that clip into the center section of the glasses. Also they come with four different shades from clear on up. Cost is about 80.00 but you have to pay extra for the seperate lens set to mount on them. It goes on the inside of the outter lens. With this setup you have your prescription working reguardless of the lens color you are using. Just my preference. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 4, 2008 Super User Posted February 4, 2008 Depending on your perscription, some frame styles may not work for you. I could not get any of the wrap-around styles to work for me. I tried the type that fishfordollars mention too and they wouldn't work either. I had to settle on a straight frame model. Very near-sighted and astigmatic. Quote
