Pflueger Patriarch XT vs Shimano Curado 200E

Is the Patriarch a better or equal reel to the Curado?

Would you switch from the Curado to the Patriarch ?

I wouldn't.  I love my curado reels.  Super easy to palm and extremely strong.  I fish it in fresh and saltwater all the time.  I'm trying to fish this reel to the limits and as of this moment I still haven't met my match, at least not yet.  Anyways the curado is very smooth on the retrieve, can cast weightless baits no problem, and can be found very cheap in the $130-150 range which is a better deal than the pflueger patriarch.

curado no questions asked!!! they are both good reels but the curado imo is way better.. and will last ALOT longer

It fits my hand better, it's better looking, dual braking, and casts light lures as well (if not better than) the Curado. The only advantage the Curado has over the Patriarch is weight, but Pflueger addressd that with the XT.

really though my pflueger after one year has this clackin noise and just doesnt feel right. now i know everyone is going to say well you take better care of your things but thats not the case i take extremely good care of all my things and in my opinion shimano last longer than every reel ive tried..

That is true, and I'm not knocking the Curado in anyway. It's a great reel, and if I didn't feel that way I wouldn't have kept it. I just prefer the Patriarch.

That kind of thing happens. I had a Citica 200e that was a dud right out of the box.

Ok....I have two narrow spool patriarchs and 4 curados, 3 e7s and an e5. I have come to prefer the curado over my patriarchs, don't fish them much any more, I don't like the screw on handle, and after a few years I have come to realize the dual braking is just added weight. It is nice to have at first and helps out an uneducated thumb tremendously, but now I find myself not using the mag brake much at all, just when I really need it, which comes in handy. I also bought my patriarchs for an average of $20 less than my curados, $130 for the payriarchs and $150 for the curados. Now the XT is almost $70 more than the E7 and I don't really know why with the exception of a fancy handle

PATRIARCH all the way !!!!! I love the DUAL CAST CONTROL and the Patriarch is smoother than a Curado and my Patriarch cast better then a Curado no birdnests !!!! and the Patriarch has a chrome like finish will not wear off or chip like the Curado ugly Green finish.

I have 8 Patriarchs ;D ;D ;D

Also the gears from the Bass Pro Q will fit in the Patriarch so I have reels in 4.7:1 5.1:1 6.4:1 and 7.1:1 gears can't do that with a Curado !!!!!!

The Patriarch comes in a std and a wide spool and the XT is to kill for !!!!!

One problem I've had with the Titanium Deposition coating is that it tarnishes very easily, both of my mine must have had a little salt on them from baits because they had green tarnish spots on them at the start of the year, cleans off easily though

Funny I knew how this post was going to look before I even opened it.

Everyone is going to defend the reel they use obviously even if they havent used the other reel. And obviously there are more people defending Curados because more people use Curados.

The true undeniable truth is that it all depends what works better for each individual. I use Pfluger and Shimano reels so I own both reels. I use both but Pfluger feels better in my hands. I own 3 Patriarchs and 1 Curado if that tells you anything. As far as durability I have 2 Pfluger presidents that are well worn and they are still going strong. I also have a couple Calcuttas that are out of commision until they get worked on. I also had a chronarch once that didnt act right after a year or so of casual use. So the jurys out for me. They are both nice reels and you cant go wrong with either.

Well I haven't tried the Patriarch ,but I have a Curado that I like alot. And Curado is $20 cheaper.

Tackle Tour's review is of the old Patriarch, not the XT that the OP was asking about. The XT is 0.8 oz. lighter than the Curado, which would definitely close the gap in their scores.

But then again, there's roughly $70 difference between the Curado and the Patriarch XT.  Even so, I'd still take another Patriarch over another Curado.

Patriarch, is limited in their selection for leftys, only the 7:1 is available..

Where as the Curado has more choices..And I happen to like the green sparkly finish on mine..

Then we may as well count the Patriarch spinning reel. It can be switched from RH to LH retrieve.
