hey guys looking for another rod for a spinning set up. Whats yall thoughts based on this rod?

I have the 6' Medium Power fast action rod.  It is an alright rod for the money.  I have caught a lot of big fish on that stick and it handled them all nicely.  It is a really nice rod for skipping senkos.  It also has pretty decent sensitivity.

I know some people on here have had a problem with the tip inserts falling out of their Premiers but I haven't experienced that in the 2+ years I have owned mine.

Maybe someone who has used a few of the lower priced rods from other manufacturers can chime in and give you a good comparison.  There may be better options out there for close to the same amount of cash.

I love my St. Croix's! Cant go wrong for the price, but you could spend a lil more and get a lifetime warranty with an Avid.

Or you could keep an eye on the Fishing Flea Market.  I've bought several Avid there for the price of a Premier.  That's a tough deal to beat.

My son has a 6'6" M/F Premier rod that was originally my first nice spinning rod and that was 4 years ago and the rod is still going strong and have had no problems with it at all.  He has also pulled in several 6+ pound fish with it as well.

Dave is right though, keep an eye open in the flea market, always some great buys in there.

Solid rods for the money. Just landed a 44# flathead on the med-fast action 6'6" Premier (see Other Fish Species forum), so they'll take anything a bass can put out. Own two Avids and two Premiers (all spinning models) and haven't had any problems with any of them.

I'm not "Team 9" but I do fish with both Premiers and Avids. A couple Premiers were my first experience with St Croix rods. I fell in love with them. A couple years later I bought my first Avid. I was amazed how much lighter, more sensitive, and even better balanced the Avid was over the same length and power premier rod. Like store bought tomatoes compared to fresh from the garden ones. I still use my premiers, mostly for moving baits. My Avids are my go to rods for any baits that touch bottom. That being said; I still think the Premier is a dang good rod for $100 bucks.

Ditto what MichBassMan said above. My two Avids are custom built sticks that I use for jigging/drop baits - they are lighter and more sensitive than the Premiers size for size, but they cost me...

The 6' Premier is actually a pretty sweet stick that comes closest to the Avids in weight and sensitivity, more so than the longer 6'6" and 7' rods that are heavier and a little less balanced. Some people don't care for the shorter length though. As mentioned before, Premiers are a solid, well-built stick for the money, especially if you're not wanting to drop more than $100.

Remember too that the Triumph, Mojo Bass and Premier's all use the same blanks, so they are all very close, if not the same in performance.

I have the Triumph 6'6" M/F spinning, Mojo 6'8" M/XF spinning and the Premier 6'6" MH/F casting rods.

I have to say I am very happy with all 3 rods. I have 2 Avid casting rods on route to me now so I will be able to compare them directly to the Premier I have now

I have two Premiers that I bought for about $90 each.  I would not pay more than that for a new one, but I do like the two I have.

I have had to replace the tip on one.  The insert fell out.

Agreed.  Good rods for $100 new.  $110 will buy a used Avid.  I would wait.
