dumb_dog11 Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 just wondering what the purpose of an O-ring is on a wacky rig. I have never used one but here talk of it. How do you use it? im a bit confused. Do you put it in the eye of the hook or around the worm or something? thanks Quote
Handy Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 It goes onto the worm to the middle then slide the hook just under the o ring. It helps to prevent tearing the worm in half everytime you catch a fish. You do need to size the o ring to the worm though. Just tight enough to hold it in place. You can use split rings to for a little more weight. It looks weird with the hook facing the way it does but has not been a problem for me in any way. Hope this helps. Paul Quote
Dean Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Ya I use these. They help save me some worms You can find them here pretty cheap... http://www.guileyworm.com/wacky_rig_o-rings.htm Quote
Bronzeback117 Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 I get them on ebay from this guy. Even though they say they are for 3" and 4" but they are perfect for 5" also. http://cgi.ebay.com/O-Rings-200-3-4-Gary-Yamamoto-Senko-Lures_W0QQitemZ270209239573QQihZ017QQcategoryZ31693QQcmdZViewItem Quote
Rob G. Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 If you want to purchase o-rings, just go to your local chain hardware store. Menards, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.. They do not cost much at all. Just take a bait with you to find the right size. Quote
TeamBerettaGold Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 We have been doing this for years, take a black zip tie (the real small ones) , everyone has a ton of these laying around, or can go buy a pack of 100 for real cheap, clip the tag end and bang, your in business. Use a white one for lighter color senkos. We do this a lot on lake michigan when we fish the shipwrecks for smallies, it really makes a guy mad when you keep loosing a good senko every time a smallie makes a jump. Smallies dont seem to care about the zip tie, we can fish them in crystal clear water without a problem. Quote
