author=06002F3D31480 link=1201821715/30#34 date=1201873081]I gotta agree with the jig & baby brush hog. 1/4oz green/red.

Ok...what the hell is going on?!  This is the second person to reply with a jig/brush hog combo.  That is my bait!  No one is supposed to do this!  I spanked 5 keepers yesterday in 45 degree water with a 3/16oz baby boo jig in black/red flash and a black neon baby brush hog...it has always been my cold water jig combo.  I modify mine by cutting off the swim tails to look like whiskers, and shortening the bait by cutting it off right above the legs.  I also cut off the legs and make slits at the base of the 'gliders' or flaps to make them flair open when my jig is sitting on the bottom.   It flat works...

I'd seriously consider a double-tail hula grub, watermelon/redflake.

This scenario would sure simplify fishing, just carry one 360 Plano and one of those rod/reel things.

I don't know what's going on with the Gene Larew web site but if you do a search for it 4 sites come up 2 work and 2 don't. The 2 that work don't list every thing they sell, the 2 that don't work are the correct one.

Since my targeted species in my neck of the woods is the fiesty SmallMouth Mine would be a Lucky Craft Jerk Bait.78 sp series.

My other reason is I could also use it on the trophy Walleye and Pike that swim the waters around here.I could cast it.Troll it.Jerk it.Add weight to the line above it to adjust running depth.Heck I could even carolina rig it.

If i could only use 1 lure, i would quit fishing. I can't pick one lure. Someone would have to pick it for me. I don't think i could pick 1 just for the day. It would be a soft plastic of some sort, but you make good arguments for jigs. Okay, i wouldn't quit fishing, but i know that i wouldn't go nearly as often. It's too much fun catching them on different lures/techniques. Well, maybe i would go out just as many times, but would enjoy it less. (at least you are fishing). Who am i kidding? I would fish with 1/2 of a lure, and couldn't wait until the next time i go out...

Ok guys thanks to pfluemis we have found the error at Gene Larew; I would also like to add that Red Shad & Junebug/Blue Tail work as well.

http://www.easycarts.net/ecarts/GeneLarewTackle/Worms.html

Thank you guys!

I just placed my order. 8-)

p.s

The worms are fairly inexpensive, but the shipping fee SUCKS!

Anyhow, I wanted to try them, so I bought 100 of the camoflauge

Catt recommended and 20 packs of the other two colors he

suggested for about $42.

Thanks again.

Texas Rigged Gene Larew 7 ½” Salty Ring Worm Cinnamon Pepper Neon/June Bug Laminated (Camouflage).

Now that we found 'em, would you share how you rig 'em, fish 'em?

;D

The Rage Tail Craw in green pumpkin has been responsible for about 50% of my best fish over the last 6 months, Texas rigged or on the back of a jig. That would be my choice.
