Super User Goose52 Posted June 8, 2010 Super User Posted June 8, 2010 My nicest and favorite combo is a G.Loomis GLX MBR842C with a BPS Carbonlite reel and 10lb mono. For my fishing, a 7' medium-power rod is a great "all-around" tool... Quote
Stasher1 Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 It's not my most expensive or "flashiest" setup, but I'd have to say my favorite combo is my spinnerbait rig. 6'10" MH/MF Quantum Tour Edition PT (PTC6106FKV) paired with a Curado 200e7, spooled with 17# XPS fluoro or 12# Sufix Elite. To be fair, this would be my favorite combo regardless which reel I use. The rod is just that good. I use this setup for all of my spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and lipless cranks. Quote
s13john Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 probably my fuego and 7.3mh vendetta with my curado e7 and cumera 6.8 mef .... hard choice but i like fishing toads so thats were the vendetta wins. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 8, 2010 Super User Posted June 8, 2010 J Francho,What do you use your Teaser for? I have the Tube (LTBS70MF - I upgraded my other Avid as well). I talked to a couple techs at St. Croix who said it's pretty much the same rod as the Teaser. They recommended "anything." I have tossing Spinnerbaits with it, topwater, and cranks because that's what I used my old comparable Avid for. Pretty much everything within its rating. It really excels at light contact baits, though it does the sissy size soft swimbaits, vibe baits in weeds, spinners, buzzers, even shallow cover banging cranks very well. I've played with the tube, while the specs are similar, its not the same blank. Quote
Thefishy1 Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Freshwater: Metanium MG on a Dobyns Champion 734C SH with 15lb Triple Fish Ice Line Fluro, I really want to upgrade to a Extreme 744C but I am so attached to the Champion that I cant part with it. Saltwater: Shimano Baitrunner 4500 on a 6'6" MH Trevala with 65lb Power Pro, this guy has laid the smack down on some big grouper in the past year or so. Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 I'm happy with what I have, but my favorite is my Shimano Symetre 1500 FI on a St.Croix PS60. It's my panfish/smallie setup, inline spinners, small craws & small cranks combo. Quote

Hot n Tot Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 I have 4 GLX casting rods and it seems to be whichever one I'm using at the time. My CR722 with a Daiwa Steez 103HA feels the best in hand. But the MBR783 might just be more versatile and therefore my fav? I also love my MBR842 and my BCR803. Quote

The guys I talked to were at the HQ/factory location who both said the same blank was used to construct both rods. Just wanted to share my discussion and my impression was the two rods are very close (differences do exist but they said very subtle in overall feel and application). I haven't felt a Teaser so I wouldn't know the feel difference. Regardless, both are good rods. And, back on track, I am still the happiest with the LTBS68MXF. Quote

Those specs are for the blanks themselves. No way the same blank starts out with a different weight, tip size and butt diameter, just because its for a spinning rod. The spinning rod feels a bit slower and flexes easier. A very good rod, but not made on the same blank as the casting rod. There isn't anything to argue. Quote

BassThumb Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I really like my finesse, long distance pitching rod. It's a discontinued G. Loomis BCFR892 matched with a Shimano Curado 201E7 and 15# Seaguar Invisx or Trilene 100% fluorocarbon. This one is really fun to fish with and I'm very accurate and quiet with it. A recently acquisition is hot on it's heels, though. The Dobyns 735C used for medium weight/moderate cover pitching and matched with Curado 201E7 and 50# Tracer braid and 12# CXX leader. Quote

Super User islandbass Posted June 9, 2010 Super User Posted June 9, 2010 I'm like JF and Raul and I love all of my combos. My favorite one is the one in my hands when I'm fishing. Doesn't matter if I'm UL fishing with my Okuma/Abu Cardinal or my Lamiglas/Certified Pro Drop shot special/Rapala S6xi, or my Crucial like Catt's with a curado 101D. If it's in my hands I am happiest, because it's the only one in the line up that is going to catch my fish. Quote
