TD Pro and strikeforce

Never used either one or any daiwa product for that matter, I was looking at this for a BC setup. Strikeforce and a MH F TD Pro rod. Anyone use these or have any input?

From my personal experience I have not had very much luck with lower end daiwa baitcast reels. In that price range for a bait caster, under the $100 dollar range, I like Abu Garcia. I think they make very nice reels for the money in that range. This is just from personal experience. I've had great luck with them. I have a daiwa megaforce, which is one step above the strikeforce, and I do not like it much at all. It's a very noisy reel, compared to my abu garcia silvermax, which is in the same price range.... It's very quiet and casts any baits nicely.

TD pro  reel = awesome

Have'nt tried the rod, but try that reel with the 7.1 gear ratio paired with a falcon original.

TD pro + falcon original + spinnerbait = fish in the boat

after the factory grease is cleaned out of the reel and a proper lube is done i think they make a good plastics reel. one thig about a plastics reel is they wont see the stress a cranking reel will (IMO).

i got my old man a Exceler and after a bath it has worked great for the last season and a half.

plus, its a Daiwa..............what could happen??

The Exceler is all aluminum, I'm thinking about purchasing that reel soon, is your dad's reel noisy? I've heard of that being a problem on the Excelers

I'm deployed with the military and bought a strikeforce from BPS to practice with while I'm here and so far I like it very much.  Haven't actually cast into water yet, but it's light and casts very far.  My only concern is that the reel may be fragile.

The Strikeforce is a good reel for the price, but they do not cast light lures very well at all. The handle grips are terrible, they need Reel Grips put on them.

You would be better off skimming the Flea Market for a used Citica E in the $85 range.

I have an Exceller I picked up on ebay on my spinnerbait rod. It's one of my favorite reels. Very smooth.

well I'm glad you guys have had success stories with the excelers because i have an exceller and 2 trillionares which are based off the excellers they are the noisiest and when you reel you hear the gears grinding i have even sent them back to daiwa and daiwa replaced bearings and a few other things and there just as loud if not louder go with a bass pro extreme or u may laugh but the whally marshall is an amazing reel it casts lightweight baits extremely far and is a very nice finesse baitcaster.but the citcas were my first high end reels and i love them

I've had 2 TD pro's and it wasn't what I'd call ideal. One broke and the other I ended up taking back. I don't think that Daiwa has very good lower end stuff, but as for their higher end models, I have two Zillions (ones a coastal) and they are the best reels I've ever owned. I also have one of the Zillion rods and it blows every other rod I've fished out of the water.
