The Revo S? Quote
Super User Dan: Posted May 25, 2010 Super User Posted May 25, 2010 You have to buy a Revo over $160 Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 The reel must retail for 159.99 or more. Get on Abu Garcia's web site and you can down load the coupon with the rules. I got my glasses in about 7 weeks. They are pretty nice. Quote
Senkoman12 Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 if you want a revo sx go to bass pro they have them from $169.99 that way it works out for your glasses Quote
Mike Z Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 The promotion makes no sense at all. If I overpay for a reel at one place I get the glasses but if I get a reel on sale at the next place I am SOL. They don't even state models other than just plain "Revo". And I thought rebates from Best Buy and other stores were tough... Even the wording on the rebate form is odd as it just says purchase any Abu Garcia reel over $159.95. Is that list price? Revo? On the web it says Revo. On the rebate form it makes no mention. : Quote

Super User J Francho Posted May 25, 2010 Super User Posted May 25, 2010 Does shipping and sales tax count toward the minimum price? Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted May 25, 2010 Super User Posted May 25, 2010 Does shipping and sales tax count toward the minimum price? Not the way I read it. It ain't no deal as far as I'm concerned. Quote
Mike Z Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I was on the phone with the Abu Garcia rebate department. Shipping and sales tax do not count. The reel itself must be above the $159.95 amount they set. Now here is the good news. If you go to their website and look at the reels, each one will have a cost at the bottom. As long as you get one of those reels showing a price of more than the $159.95 you will be fine. The rebate is not limited to the Revo products as their website says on some pages, but rather any Abu reel over $159.95. If you get the reel on sale and pay less than $159.95 you will be fine as long as they say $159.95 or more as the cost on their website. Quote

Nope, nice reels, cheap sunglasses. I was actually needling Dan. with complications. Another: will I be able to write off the full value of the reel purchase if the reel is for business use? Or will I have to deduct the value of the glasses from that write off? And what brand of braid should I use on the reel? C'mon Dan, you have the answers. ;D Quote

You do not have to deduct the value of the glasses (but you would have to deduct them if they were Costa Del Mars or Maui Jims) As for braid, I still like spearmint flavored Glide dental floss. Quote

Im just curious because that is the one reason i am sold on this deal is because I need another reel and polarized glasses. If the glasses are not worth it then I will just wait and buy a curado Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 I liked the AG promo where you got a Sterns life vest for S and H. Nice vest ! Now if Shimano would just have a promo......buy a Curado and get a free Dancin Eel Quote

Im just curious because that is the one reason i am sold on this deal is because I need another reel and polarized glasses. If the glasses are not worth it then I will just wait and buy a curado I have both pairs they're offering, the P17 and the Zak. I like the P17's as they fit my size XXL head well and stay put. Good polarized glasses that you'd pay over $100 for at a store. To me, they were an incentive to try the reels, but not THE reason I bought them (2 - 2010 Premiers). The reels are outstanding and are getting much deserved stellar reviews all over the 'net. Very light, not fussy like a lot of reels and very versatile. Quote
