basser223 Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 When you go out for a day of fishing how many rods do you have with you? Quote
b.wedlund Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I start my rod selection at 6. Finesse/Plastic, Crankbait, Swimbait, Topwater, All-Purpose and Spinnerbait. If I plan to do a lot of a certain thing, I will add a couple more rods that I like for that. Somedays I know I am going to be fishing several topwater baits so I bring a couple more rods for that purpose. Some days I know I won't fish a technique at all and then I don't take a rod for that. But typically I am bringing 5-7 rods with. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Generally five for large mouth and six for small mouth. If it's March and the water's 52 or less, two, maybe three rods is all. " Quote
snuffy33 Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Two. One to use and one for backup. See my sig. : Quote
ArcticCat500 Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Unless your fishing tournaments, or perhaps running a bass boat with rod lockers anything more then 4 is a waste, and sometimes, 3 out of 4 sit in the rodholders. A friend I wish with is a tournament angler, and I've seen 4 to 6 rods on his boat, and that dude can put fish in the livewell, staright up. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted May 16, 2010 Super User Posted May 16, 2010 10-20 depending on the time of year. Quote
LAO162 Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 For an average 3 hour stay at the pond (5-6 rods): 2-4 on the bank 2-4 in the car (not far from the bank) 3-4 left at home a couple in the I no longer need these pile I have more than I need, but it's fun Quote
Adam Harbuck Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 4, I fish in a kayak and more than that just get in the way. Usually not the same 4, it is based on where I am fishing and what baits I am throwing. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted May 16, 2010 Super User Posted May 16, 2010 26,but I guide and tournament fish! Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted May 16, 2010 Super User Posted May 16, 2010 8 on the deck 6-8 in the box I hate wasting time tying a lure on. Just grab another rod. Quote

andamtoft Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I'm in the collecting stage. I'm at 6 casting 2 spinning, eventually I'd like to have 7 casting 3 spinning. But most likely would never take all ten to a tournament as a non-boater. Before the tournament I talk to the boater and see what he'll be fishing then i usually TRY to limit my self to 6ish. When i'm out in my 12 footer ill bring 4 tops Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted May 16, 2010 Super User Posted May 16, 2010 3, occasionally 4. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted May 16, 2010 Super User Posted May 16, 2010 Fishing from the bank I will have 4 in the car and will take two with me - one in my hand and one stuck in my belt behind my back. Fishing from the canoe - I will have 4, 5 max (don't have any more room!). Quote
htbass Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I don't have a boat unfortunately. When wading, 1 rod, walking the bank 2 rods, as a ride along on another boat, 4 or 5. Quote
scrutch Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 usually 6 on deck (4 casting, 2 spinning) another 6 in the locker (3 casting 3 spinning, these get used about 20 % of the time as loaners or when I didn't plan to use a specific technique that day. Oh, and I got room for more! let's see...where's that flea market link again? ...click! Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 2-3 and I'm fishing from the shore/bank. One for Cranks and treble hook lures. One for anything else and both spinning. One Baitcaster also for anything heavier. Quote
